They did a 8.2 @ 174mph..
smashed the record

Nice to see they made an effort with the paint job :rollseyes:
This car used to be in our class and belonged to Steve Rawlings, the reason it's gone so well is that finally a team has learnt that to succeed in drag racing you need a purpose built car for the job.
Check out the car in the other lane...............

It's a good acheivement, but until it enters a national championship class it's not much kop to me I'm afraid. John Bradshaw's Skyline is entered at the National Finals, the first time a Jap shootout style car has entered the championship properly, fair play to him.

He's not long finished it and thats the first time it's been to the strip

I understand that, although the whole chassis and everything was already setup from it's days as a Super Mod. What my point it that with these Jap shootout cars, but it'd be nice to see them put their cards on the table against the established combinations. Yeah, 8.2 is quick in anyone's book, but the car is effectively an open rule book, full bodied car and the European record for one of those is 6.17 @229mph (even that car is limited by strict rules though).
All my point is, is that it'd be nice for a few of them to adjust their cars to fit within the rules of a national championship class and have at it.
