whats best landrover or other?

after a recent post was locked for fear of argueing i thought i would make a post asking what people thought to the many off roaders available,

this isnt some landrovers are the best fuck everything else(although that is true Icon_winkIcon_lol)

so put forward your reasons to why you like which 4x4 and add pics and specs and anything else that backs up your reason

i will add mine later because at this very time i cant think of which 4x4 i like the most Icon_smile

The Bowler Nemesis? And just FYI, the Wildcat is not longer made by Bowler, they sold the rights to QT Services so they could concentrate on the Nemesis, so it's technically called the QT Wildcat now ;]

And I appologise if it looked like I was arguing in the last thread, at the end of the day my pride and joy is a LR 90 and I love it to bits, so I'm obviously going to agree with a_coates tounge

So to answer the question, Defenders are the best 4x4, more specifically, MY Defender Icon_biggrin

RE: whats best landrover or other?

Land Rover/Range Rover/Discovery - pah!

At the Syncro owners club we have a sticker specifically made for our towbars which says 'Attach Land Rover HERE'!

Good offroad but they fall to pieces. Jeeps plain suck.

Suzuki's are OK as they are small but anything extreme will lead to epic FAIL.

I've driven lots of big, tough stuff from Russia (GAZ,UAZ etc) along with some Haflingers/Pinzgauers and out of all of it the best IMO is the Lada Niva. Its a military proven, rock solid, old school engineered little tank. Even the ancient engines are torquey and bulletproof. Drop in a twincam from a '70s Fiat for loads of power (its a bolt in swap) and you can embarrass almost anything.

Now you might think I would be singing the praises of my Syncro because it will go pretty much anywhere and its damn tough plus uber practical. It never gets stuck and laughs at Landy's. There is no need for extra levers for hi/lo etc. Just stick it in 'G' and it will do it. If you really want to go mental and get in the shit you have front and rear difflocks - operated by pulling a little switch on the dash. I've been up a volcano in Germany and never had to use them.

The only thing is - when you break it (and I have only done it once!) you had better be prepared to sell a testicle or two in order to buy proper parts from Germany/Sweden. For inexpensive, fun play I would love another Cossack, the Syncro is simply fantastic - but costly.

ACTIVE Icon_coolIcon_cheesygrin

The Eifel mountain range in Germany:

'The last volcanic eruptions in the Laacher See volcanic site took place around 10 000 years ago and generated a huge volume of volcanic ash, now found in thin ash layers in contemporaneous sediments throughout Europe. The volcanism of the Eifel is thought to be partly caused by a hotspot or mantle plume, a place where hot material from deep in the mantle rises to the surface, and partly by melt-ascent at deep fractures in the earth's crust.[2] Research has shown that the volcanism is still active; the Eifel region is rising by 1-2 mm per year. Historically, the Eifel volcanoes had inactive phases of 10,000 to 20,000 years between active phases, suggesting there is a possibility of future eruptions.'

Bout time to pop. We were camping at the top (747m) with the Nurburgring a few miles down the road.
