I feel the Scene has been a victim of it's own success in a way.
5 years ago, Mags and Shows were full of cars everyday people had created themselves. Now to me it seem a battle for who can spend the most on their car or even club stand.
IMO the Scene needs to go back to it's roots.

Why do we always get round to this question. The only reason the scene is dying, is people complaining that the scene is dying all the time. I've been "cruising" for over 15 years and nothing fundimental has changed really. You've alway had the boyracer types and beleive it or not you've alway had the police on your back. If people were willing to travel outside their safety zone they would find out that it's not actually dying at all. This year has been our busiest year for a long time. But you need to go outside Mansfield, and I know this is going to shock a few people, but you might even need to travel outside Notts. Stop winging about it and get out there and enjoy yourselves.

i agree in a way with that alan!
most of the cruises/meets that arent huge (like trax, donny, mod nats) are advertised and no-one wants to go to em.... simply because there not on your door stop!

come to vw shows and youll see how the 'scene' is actualy growning ;-)
tbh i feal the whole 'all types of car' shows are just goin out of fashion, eg cars with painted interiors and fiberglass all over the shop, and people are goin to more focused shows like jap shows dub shows n ford shows and moving away slap as much crap on your car as possible route, which was seen at modified nationals etc,
this is my view anyway

the 'scene' isnt dying at all in my opinion!
i think some people feel it is because nowadays people only seem to want to modify certain cars.
i do think that the whole 'max power, f&f thing is dead. which can only be a good thing IMO!
hhhhm, duno realy, seems to me that people on the scene dont realy take much notice the cars they dont like any more, hence the illusion of not seein 'nice cars around anymore'

All comments are true, in the eyes of the general public there aren't any modifiers there are only boy racers who every night go to mac Donald's play there loud crappy loud systems which robbed them around about £300 from halfords and then tear around the street, causing accidents. This is the part that many people see.
The true scene has bein lost and needs to be shown for what it realy is.

The true scene were lost yrs ago trust me,no internet forums then, cruises were by word of mouth virtually as they happened sometimes so police had no time to arrange anything, there were less attitude amongst the younger modifiers and only the occasional twat that got arsey if ya didnt rate their cars however gotta be honest bk then there werent really much crap to put on em as most of the bits you could get were performance based,
Basically the scene got commercialised by an influx of shit products that ppl bought actually de-valuing the scene so what once were a respected thing having a fast well looked after one off in some cases, amongst a group of other modifiers with respect for each others cars and usually starting off being motorsport fans before owning their own cars turned into a lets put L.E.D. washer jets an electronic dumpvalve and about 6 or 8 tailpipes(it happens lol)and expect ppl to respect it,normal ppl laugh an there comes a point where old skool modifiers laugh most ppl on here know the score.
I can think of one showcar on here our lot thinks is fookin horrible, however like i say we were around bk in the day its always been about mint std-ish well styled cars focusing on more power or engine transplants.
I think insurance played a part aswell to an extent, had one std car a 1300 escort, then when 19 an xr3i followed by an xr2 then a series 2 escort rst, were 22 when i had me series 2 and insurance were about £700 it were easier to start with a fast car pretty young.
When i started coming down town it were full of R5GT turbos, series 1/2 rst`s,16v astra gte`s,cav gsi`s,mk2golfs, pug 205gti`s etc etc were just a top era for cars in my opinion and probably easier to modify them without taking it to be remapped after like now so ppl opt for cheap tacky mods in some cases. Is definately a different scene though but think some ppl get into it for the wrong reasons nowdays, for me its always been about doing as much as you can yourself or with mates-to take a car somewhere an come bk with it done aint what its about-half the funs in doing it yourself however usually it were done with older cars whereas mainly today theres a few buying newish cars then rippin em to bits which i dont really get if im honest, part of it were about making your old car look as nice as possible coz to be fair bk then we couldnt afford new cars.An if im honest (an ive had one)i dont really respect modded brand new cars much anyway-if its more about cash than effort i aint interested .
I just think there were more pride bk then an less attitude-apologise in advance for anyone i may have offended but the scene is what it is,however still believe its the minority spoiling it for the masses-Though recent changes and a move bk to retro cars in a sizeable way does give me some hope in the scene lol even if i am an old b`stard-
