The cool Vauxhall/Opel thread.....

Yes, once upon a time they did make some cool cars.

The influence of Irmscher in the 80's really did make a big impact on the Opel range. A far cry from the barely visible kits they do today.

If you can find one thats not rotted away it would make a very cool project base surely:

Irmscher/Mattig Opel Corsa A (widearch)

Opel Manta B 400

Opel Corsa A Spider

Chevette HSR

Opel Manta A GTE

You started off really well with the top two then it went down hill with that mess of a convertable Nova. lol.

I love the Mk1 Astra. I'd have one of those.

Or Lotus Carton obviously

LOL I remember that. My grandad had a china blue Cavalier hatchback 1.3 which he offered me when he stopped driving. I declined and ended up with my uncle's 957cc Fiesta Mk1.

How glad was I?!!!

P.S. - I was looking for a decent photo of a white Mk1 GTE, but it looks like no-one could take a picture fast enough before they'd started to rot Icon_biggrin

A mates doin a mk1 astra gte up at the mo though needs a bit of welding to be fair inner wings/floor/bulkhead front crossmember and tidying up on the rear arches someones bodged on aswell as rear valance,he`s putting a redtop in its when its done(suprise) so shd be pretty cool.

He did the manta 400kit thing yrs ago like about 15yr ago lol

got glass back in/rear spoiler/etc etc and sold it before he got the right rims for it-(think he`d spent up on filler lol)

LOL, with a Mk1 Astra you are best to get 2 good bumpers and start to weld from each end inwards

Definatly want a Astra VXR or 888 Icon_biggrin

But... i do love the old once like the manta and carlton
