:hi: Is it just me or is anyone else under the impression that R5 Gt Turbo's are quite fast :confused: .

Last night i was driving through meden vale and one over-took me, so i caught up with him a few 100 yards down the road and thought i wouldn't have a chance of getting past.....until i booted it past him in 4th at about 85 whilst i could hear him ragging it to not let me past.

Does this mean Corsa Sport's are faster???

i have never been beaten by one in my starlet, i dont think they are to quick.

TBF its swings and roundabouts, he may of been ragging it, but it could have been a nail, not running properly, without knowing what mods you've had done to your Sport we won't know, you may stand a chance against a standard one, that hasnt had the boost upped, even though that probably wont go bang.

You could probably go up against another one and get absolutely slaughtered, I'm the same against Starlet GT's like Widdo's I've beaten a few, kept up with another and been blown into the weeds by others.

As to saying are they quick, I think they are, how many other 80's hot hatches can you think of that had 120bhp from a 1.4 engine, albeit with nice turbo bolted on?

im a BIG fan of r5 turbo's and in mybook no corsa on the planet would wipe the floor with a r5 turbo BUT as matt said it could have been fucked as most of them are or your car could be far from standard

either way r5's = awesomeness

that must of been 1 fucked 5 for losing to a 90bhp corsa sport.

Hi again, No its not a joke i was actually quite sad to over take it coz i love R5's

It's not the 1.4 sport it's the 1.6. I think they are about 106bhp standard but it has been chipped and remapped and has 4-2-1 branch manifold and de-catted.

It was a Black G-reg with nice alloys looked low aswell. To be honest it looked a minter. My mate sez that it may be something to do with lack of top-end power on Gt Turbos'

the only way u would have beaten it, would be if it was broke.

to be fair, there's a very strong chance of that seens as it's a R5 GTT

r5 gt turbo one of me all time fav cars ppl think there slow well noooooooooooo get 1 looked after then race it lol
