Simon Norris (Norris Designs) Bins it again!
At Castle Combe...Again
This time in a different EVO and took out someone else!
Remember last time where he took out the 106!
Maxxd, Top Tip...Avoid Track time with Mr Norris!!!
Lucky it wasn't more serious. Pity about the cars but at least everyone got out ok
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

It stopped an even more serious possible outcome......ie death for me!
Sadly this meant HEAVY contact with Gary (Orange car) and then the tyre wall. There was a full investigation today (after the event) and I have been praised by the clerk of the course for the way I dealt with a very nasty situation. The official cause was "mechanical failure".
Sadly this 800mile old Evo 9 RS is a total loss, needs a reshell in the minimum. I may just break the car and take some time out until the green car is fixed though. Kind of makes you realise how dangerous motorsport can be.
Cheers all

p.s. The brakes had boiled fluid which had no previous signs until I applied them on the approach to this corner.

i ASSUME he has reletive track insurance doing what he does
As the marshalls deemed it was his fault does that mean they pay for the Orange Evo?

It may be a different kettle of fish if there is insurance involved, but if it were drag racing, regardless of who's fault it was it'd be a case of "sorry about that mate" and that'd be that. A, "racing incident" and reason all of the tickets issued will have all the "motorsport is dangerous blah blah etc" on them, it applies to the racers as well as the spectators. Just one of those things you have to stomach in motorsport 90% of the time.
Even at the Euro finals in 2006 when a spectator was sadly killed due to shrapnel from one of the cars, he just loaded it up and headed back to Finland. "Racing incident".
I guess if the brakes failed and the car had passed the relevant scrutineering for the event, it's a tough call to say Simon was at any fault, especially after being commended for his efforts at trying to avoid it. Hard one to say I reckon.......

it does make you wonder thought, that if a company like norris designs builds a car for racing and has a problem that causes a accident would you take your car there.

I know what you're saying mate, but can brake fluid boiling really be forseen?
It may have been relatively standard stopper-wise, and being the RS version it's designed for racing anyway. Just one of those things I s'pose?

Can't say I noticed the smoke, I just fast forwarded it to where he stacks it. It definitely backs up his "brake failure" statement though, you can see him pump the pedal 2 or 3 times as goes in to the bend.

the smoke on full boost was just fuel as it was doing it all the way through.. anyway there is no way that car had standard stoppers on it imo anyway, someone like norris doing time attack and standard brakes no chance, the car was no where near standard anyway sounded to me like it had uprated turbo and ext wastegate bare minimum whatever else ie suspension ecu and all that just seems strange the brakes could 100 % fail so quick

Apparently the brakes were the ones off of the Green Evo hes got from reading the thread on MLR, someone said about the brake fluid he had used had absorbed moisture and the wet boiling point of the fluid was way too low for the brakes.
