*REPORT* British Touring Car Championship Rd 7, 8 & 9

Right Gang

Not something we have really covered much on maxxd before now is The British Touring Car Championship or BTCC

Im sure you all know what it is and have heard of racers past and present such as John Cleland, Jason Plato, Steve Sopher, Andy Rouse and Matt Neal.

I know i used to be religous in watching it but TV coverage became poor

Now however the full raceday, every race day is on ITV 4 at yesterday at Donnington was no exception!

Now instead of Watching it on the TV Myself, Widdo, Sue and Matty headed down to Donnington to take in the action first hand

Ill keep it quite brief but the Touring cars were Brilliant, we saw some great battles, some interesting offs and some deserving winners.

Plato Tooke the first race in his Diesel Leon, Giovanardi picked up the second in the Vectra and Darren turner managed the third again in the diesel leon

Price to get in was a little Steep @ £29 but i think we did get our moneys worth

Running alongside the tourning cars were some of the support races these included

Ginetta Jnr
Formula Renault
Porcshe Carrera cup
Renault Clio Cup
Seat cupra cup

It kept the day goin but the highlight were the Clios

Brilliant racing, very close lots of offs and bumps and really great fun to watch

the one thing that made it even better was a chap called Stephen Tyldsley driving clio no 20
We were chatting to him in the pits such a nice fella really down to earth and enjoying it and had lots of time to talk to us about the car and the racing and even told us he was gonna paint his number on the bottom so we knew it was him when he roll'd it!!!

Ive made contact with him and hopefully gonna try and get him to come on here and tell us about his season and update us wit hhis info from a drivers perspective - hey we might even manage some maxxd stickers on his car!

Here are the pics
http://gallery.maxxd.com/v/other-car-events/BTCC/

But just to wet your appitite (Sorry for the poor action ones!)

Matty - as per usual abusing "People in Subaru Coats who probably dont own one"

Autograph hunting lol, managed to get Harry Vaulkhard the Chevrolet driver to sign "that'll be the Daewoo" and Alan Taylor with the Integra where every race it finished missing at least 4 panels to sign "Vtec kicked in y0" lol.

As Ollie said highlight of the day was the Clio's proper close racing, and an awesome championship. Stephen Tyldsley was a top guy, down to earth and a proper character, definitley going to have to go to Silverstone and possibly Oulton to go and cheer him on again, the guys a Legend.

Plus check out my bootiful BMW fleece, brought it and jinxed Mat Jackson for the whole weekend, oh and the TD girl on the right works at Oakerthorpe Icon_wink

boothy cant believe we didnt see you!

Looks like you had prime position when Erkut hit the wall in his Astra!

We saw him lose it over the hill then waited for the bang and the smoke! (we were on the first bend)

Erkut came sliding down the grass at some speed then hit a small concrete wall just before the tyres with some force, he got out ok though and walked away. not sure why he lost it though. saw lots loose at the bottom of the hill. Did you see that ginetta end on its roof!! we saw it on the big TV screen Looked a big one?

I forgat to take my cameraIcon_mad so had to rely on my cmarea phone. I'll try and post a couple of vids up
