can any one shed sum light on my problem i have a mk1 punto 1.1 and it wont star off the key every time i try the key the head lights come on and nothing else starter motor is fine i took that off and tried it the battery is only 8 months old the car bumps fine but that leaves me buggered on garage forcourts any ifeas

if its on a garage forcourt has it been stood ages?

sorry skim reading ,could be alternator as its not charging battery?

but wouldnt battery light on dash come on if alternator wasnt charging

that was my next guess, do any electrics work when its off except lights? remeber ignition needs to be on for stuff to work in fiats

it sounds like an ignition problem then.

If its not motor have you checked the leads for damage? although if it runs ok they should be good

Coil packs let go on my punto so something else to check, have you tried another battery to see if that makes any difference?

will try another battery and i will ave a look at coil packs thanks

if the alternator is at fault it will not always put the light on. generally speaking if the car is fine after bumped but starter not working its normally the starter of the terminal for the trigger wire
