If you have had a recall letter for you clio about the recall due to an issue with the bonnet latch don't ignore it.

I was travelling down the motorway from work on monday and my bonnet flew open smashing my windscreen, sunroof n causing other car damage. Dont ignore it it can happen and luckily i didnt crash into anyone. I got my recall letter the day after the crash!! Does anyone know where I stand therefore against clio due to the fact i have to pay 600 quid excess on my wrote off car Icon_sad

is it clios fault?

please let me know

Best bet is to get in touch with the dealer or speak to customer services dude, see what they say. If it's a recall then it's a warranty issue, meaning that Renault are accepting liability for the repairs. You may have a legal case for the damage if it happened before you received the letter, worth a try.

Bad luck though mate, I know a guy that had the exact same thing happen to his Clio on the M1 last year.

woh!

i bet that was shit scary!

glad to hear your ok mate! Icon_smile

id ring up renault and kick up a STINK!

you shouldnt have to pay for that mate, that is their fault and they have accepted responcibility. did your accident get reported?

and was the letter you got dated the DAY AFTER your accident was reported?

you may need to show the dates on stuff you see to backup your claim

wow!

glad your ok buddy, its bad shit that is!! thanksfully i dont own a clio anymore!

i have heard that renault are to be held liable for the damage but if the insurance have written the car off then all you can do is to make a claim against renault for the excess charge on your insurance.

ring watchdog, im sure they were dealing with something similair a few months back....

yeah, they have turned a few people away saying that once the car has been sold its up to the owner to maintaine it, and according to them greasing the catch/release mechanism is routine for most people!

as for an uber fast motor thats cheap to insure under 18 with 3 points...... good luck!

they SHOULD pay for because the recall work hasn't been done yet.

There was a recall about fiat stilos springs snapping and any owners that had springs snapped before the recall work was done were refunded the money.

FIAT and Renault have similar crappy customer service so just give them a call and see what they say.
