Been talking to someone recently about the Mitsi GTO 3.0 V6

For those who don't know they look like this...



Anyone know of anyone that has one?

Anyone know what they are like, any common problems etc?

was taken on a px

seemed quick enough at 300bhp and was reliable for the 5 mins he had it

Nice, quick cars but can be prone to electrical gremlins. They're quite expensive to tune too if that's the aim. Same as most cars though, find one that's been looked after and it'll be fine.

as lee said they are really prone to electrical problems as they must have been designed for the hotter climates and not the uk rain. Ive repaired loads of faults in doors on those as when the water gets in the lock motors and window motors die pretty quick, all the ones ive worked on the doors and seals dont fit properly. They have qwerky modules for everything ie the eletric aerial has a control unit in the boot instead of a relay with cutoff position and they seem to give problems and stay awake after the ignition is turned off so the battery drains over night. gearboxes are a problem on those aswell but if you drive miss daisy then you shouldnt see that.
Fuel is a major problem as they guzzle it like there no tomorrow. keep an eye out for the turbo killing oil pump aswell.
