Memories from the Modified Car Life
Question for everyone.

What is your best memory of having a modified car and being involved in the scene?

Maybe its from a show or cruise, something happened that will stick in your head forever?

RE: Memories from the Modified Car Life
Saturday Night at Run to the Hills without a doubt.

Hundreds of people in front of the Stage Bus, dancing to 'Insomnia' by Faithless. A mass crowd going wild.

And me and loads of my friends on the back of the Syncro truck stood 4ft up, bang in the thick of it, lights flashing and throwing shapes to it all. Memories don't come better believe me!

I'll be posting pictures when my sister returns from London with the camera.

RE: Memories from the Modified Car Life
First time big cab roled out the garage in 2001 was a good feeling for me. 4 years work finally coming together. And to top it, knowing it was all my work.

Then the same feeling 4 years later when it roled out the garage after "the big crash". I never thought that we'd get any more attention than before but the 20" wheels, and candy paint made the car soooooooooo much better and got sooooooo much more attention. Can't beat that feeling.

The Astro van gave me some good memories too. Best one was at a cruise in sheffield. A Monaro was sat reving his car getting all the attention. I started mine up and joined in with the noise making. No one was really winning, so I stuck mine in drive, put the left foot on the brake and planted the right. The guy soon turned his off when the croud moved towards mine. Smoking the rear tyres while banging and chucking flames. I miss the van but not the fuel costs.

I think the bottom line is "attention". I love the attention.

Christ, I've got loads of great memorys from modified cars.....

The massive Skegness cruise about 10 years ago.

My first ever sound off trophy in 1999.

Dans face when we fired up his subs in his Fiesta for the first time.

Daves face when we did the same for his Polo.

Olstar shitting himself (then approaching wee status he was so excited) when his caddy nearly took off testing the airbags.

First Max Power feature.

Meeting Jonny Vaughn on the Big Breakfast.

European Title.

Blowing the Escorts engine a month after getting it.

Blowing the Galaxys engine a month after getting it.

Out of control laughter by me & dan after the escorts engine rebuild. (Wheels spinning in 3rd while still trying to leave the junction)

The big european convoys over the last few years through France, Belguim, Holland, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, etc. (& getting home safely in a 18 year old Ford)

My dB run at Source with the Bass Cannon & the Pony

Mending Bigfoot at a show.....

RE: Memories from the Modified Car Life
Being Selected for Max Power Live's Top 100 - Yea i know it was commercialised and there was prob about 120 cars in the top 100 but for me it was the proudest moment recieving that email made all my effort worth it

No one else can say that now as its gone and only a handful on here ever made it (Clare, Newth, Lee Westwood IIRC although max's rover was in when owned by Mike Gilbert)

Suppose recently picking that trophy up at Nationals and the whole team on stage and braking into the 13's in the 200 was pretty cool again only a handful on here are in that club too!

1. Top 100 Show Car 2. 13 sec 250+bhp RWD monster 3. Daily runabout well detailed 4. New Toy..The Track Car - but i know fuck all about this scene........

Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

RE: Memories from the Modified Car Life
My best memories are definitely of the people, some good, some bad but memorable all the same! Whether it's been at Ford events, Yank meetings or Jap shows there's always been memories to take away from every one.

Some of my happiest times are simply from town though; I remember being out all night every night at one stage, meeting up with about a dozen other folks and simply exchanging random crap with each other for hours! There was never a shortage of good friends, good cars and random topics to discuss!

Firing up a V8 on open headers at the Esso garage and causing an unsuspecting passer by to throw his Lucozade all down his front will stick with me for a while too Icon_lol I remember the first time I went to an SXOC gathering when I'd finished my S14a at the bubble inn as well, and a few of the established members I'd never even met made me a space because they liked the car; that was pretty good.

I guess my favourite memory is when I was 21 and took my freshly imported Camaro for it's first run after spending days fiddling with the new induction setup. I guess it boils down to attention again, but I parked up on "the circuit" in Nottingham and people simply flocked round to have a look. One lad said he'd listened to me coming all the way from Sherwood Icon_lol

Like I said, it's definitely the people that stick with me.

*insert witty remark here*
