Have you ever thought about a CRX VTEC?? I'm not talking about the Del Sol either, but the older pre '92 ones. I'd love one of them.

RE: Jess's possible new car thread

Probly nothing, but it's a car that I know what I wanna do to it and I wanna do it myself.

Just seems like everyone's tryna put me off selling the kak that's all, and getting a 106.

Oh and I don't like CRX's or Civic's either sorry...

I like supras and skylines but can't see insurance being cheap on 2.5's etc. and theyre big cars, no turbo...slow???

I like r5 turbos 2 but theyre rate old and have got shit loads o miles on em now and they all look like bangers now.

RE: Jess's possible new car thread

i non turbo supra will not be slow for you jumping from a 1.3, it's almost double the engine size of a GTI and you seem to be under the impression GTI's are quick there not IMO.

What ya trying to say??....(looks outside at his broken 5)... Oh right, see your point lol.

There are some nice 5's around, mines only done 90k and its 17 years old, but thats because its always in bits. They are fun to drive and are reliable if setup right and maintained. When they do break though they are so cheap and easy to fix, hardly any electrics. Very easy to mod and get more power out of. Handle pretty well and you dont see that many about as alot have been ruined by chavs that buy em cos they're cheap, stick a bleed valve on, then blow it up and either scrap it or break it.

RE: Jess's possible new car thread

People are trying to put you off them because they've been done to death, and it seems every man and his dog seem to be getting one at the mo which means it's hardly a decent choice for someone wanting to "stand out".

At the end of the day you'll buy what you like 'cause it's your choice and you may well be happy with it, it would be nice for someone to think outside the box though. As far as Jap stuff is concerned there are far more choices out there than just Civics and Starlets. As far as Skylines and Supras go you're right; it's dreamworld time if you tried to get insured on one but compared to what you're in they're far from slow.......seems like you've been drawn in to the "106 gti's are the fastest thing on four wheels" mindset. Normally aspirated or not, if I was in a MkIV Supra I'd take the Pepsi challenge all day against a 106; especially if it were side by side at 60 or somet.

To be honest though, this all screams off "running before you can walk" to me, you do tend to get your toe down everywhere and even a 106 is plenty quick enough to get in bother with if it's being bought to rag around Mansfield.

RE: Jess's possible new car thread

Yeah, ebay. Just under £680 for the whole thing. I didn't wanna go with kits again, but I really like this. Saw one last year at the pod and been itching for a wide arch kit ever since.

Wide Arch Kit

I think it's gotta be done when I get one, he's got 49 available so he should have them a while.

Looks good I guess, I bet there's a shit load of labour involved for fitting though?

What would it do to your insurance?

RE: Jess's possible new car thread

Not a bad price, but dont be fooled in thinking it easy to fit. Everything looks okay until you get to the rear wings/arches. And dont forget you'll need to sort the wheel spacing too.

Before you know it, the bargain £650 body kit has sudenly cost you £2k+

Trust me I know. lol

RE: Jess's possible new car thread

the 15's we have on wouldn't be big enough and would have to be sold to accomodate larger wheels

RE: Jess's possible new car thread

lol sorry!! Yeah I know that there would be a lot of labour involved, but i'd just make my uncle fit it Icon_biggrin lol and then get it sprayed at the bodyshop. At the end of the day I think it'd be worth it. Would it or would it not stand out?!

Also, i'm going bodyshop in an hour about my ka so i'll take a pic and get a rough estimate.
