its been a while since you have seen my work...
Hello everyone! its been a LONG while since i've been on here, so i thought i better give you an update on how my latest rides coming on....

Basically we have a completely smoothed front bumper, some dished 15"s at the moment which are coming off for mirror polishing, 75mm/60mm drop, dressed engine bay, custom interior, loads of stuff!

Plans are smooth some more, lower some more, and i have some sweet wheels coming on friday, 13" of course to fit with the euro vibe.

but this car is going to be more of an audio car.......

right, i've farted about with a few installs over the last year, but iv'e decided enough is enough.

its mental or nothing. i am going to completely rip the car about, and build every panel from scratch. heres a spec list of what i have bought so far:

2x diamond d6 components
1x 5 channel amp
1x Focal 33v 13" sub
1x JVC head unit
1x 7" widescreen
1x screen box
1x stand alone dvd player
1x veba fm modulator
Loads of little lighting mods
A ton of fibreglass
A ton of filler
Blue alcantara
Black alcantara

So far, i have re wired the whole car. Obviously its wise to do the wiring first, but i have also had everything running and set up roughly. basically just to check there is no faults or anything. also, i now know which areas need extra sound proofing etc.

the sub is in a box built to focal spec, and sounds fantastic. the amps lush, and the diamonds are perfect.

Currently, the diamonds are now out, the sub is screwed to a false floor, and the amp to the back of the seat. all the door cards are off, and all the foam insulation crap is off.

im proofing all the doors using e dead, expanding foam, and fibreglass in some places. heard a car deadened with an inch of GRP n couldnt believe the quality.

Because the a pillars were out, i decided i would get cracking with these. basically, they're going to be housing my tweeters for the front channels. theyre going to be painted in gloss black, so i decided first up i would smooth the panel, and it would also help the fibreglass stick! this was done with layers of sanding using 40, 80, 120, 400 respectively. then i cut some rings to hold the tweeters out of 12mm ply.

i then glued the rings on, then fibreglassed round them. sanded them down with 40, then another layer to get the shape. this layer is currently going off:

I'll leave these till tommorow, then i'll rub these down to the desired shape, then it'll be out with the filler then fine sanding, then painting.

As for the dash, i want all my source units and my 7" widescreen infront of me, but in the centre. in the mk5, theres a 1.5 din unit, so this is going to involve hacking the dash. to help i am going to relocate the heater controls to the glove box. i will then build a 3 din frame, bond this on to the dash, then i will fibreglass this in and blend it in. i got a scrapper heater control panel, removed the dials, and fibreglassed over the panel. i will be cutting this panel to size, to house the 3 din rack. heres a pic:

I am also de cluttering the dash of all standard switches/buttons/clock etc. these will be replaced by mini toggle switches, that ain't hidden away, but are out of sight.

There will be plenty more going on with this, hopefully almost daily.

Thanks

Si
