In car Playstation problems - HELP!
Just tried an early Playstation (grey one) in the car using an inverter and a flip down screen.

The inverter works fine as does the screen but when I try the Playstation I get no video signal and interference from the video plug.

Its not the cable as I have swapped it and the Playstation works in the house (on the TV).

Any ideas? Duff Playstation or Not compatible?

Help please :boohoo:

have you successfully got anything else working on the TV?

and you have tried changing the cables?

are the cables new?

can you run the exact same setup inside your house, same TV and everything? (obv minus the inverter)

The Playstation works fine with the same cables plugged into the house TV.

The flipdown plays DVD's fine in the car.

Inverter is brand new too.

Could do with another Playstation to test it I guess.

it could be the inverter if the PS works fine in the house.

There are two types of inverter that I know of, a modified sine wave and a pure sine wave inverter

When you look at the modified sine wave inverter using an oscilloscope it will look like this :

A true sine wave inverter will output power like this

Now my point....

The modified sine wave inverter outputs it's power as a close approximation to the power you get from a wall socket, it's close but not perfect.

I had an Xbox in the back of my 306 and the inverter caused no end of interference with the display and it also caused the xbox to run warm.

I'd guess that your PS will only run properly on a pure sine wave DC to AC inverter

That might explain it. I'll check the inverter and see if it says anything...

Thx guys.
