Impreza died today....for an hour or two.

On my way to see a mate in hospital when on the ring road it just cut out and wouldnt start again, was there a while fiddling with things trying to figure it out in the middle of rush hour traffic. Must have looked a right tit. Anyway I came to the conclusion it was the fuel pump and someone was on the way to give me a tow, tried to mess about getting to the pump but didnt have any tools. Had to tow it by my strut brace as my towing eye is behind my splitter. Another Maxxd member pulled up to lend a hand and helped to warn traffic as I was towed round the corner to the Subaru dealership, cheers Danny (think thats your name). Got there in time before they shut and they had a few spare second hand pumps lying around so gave me one to try, so after helping to push it round into the carpark we got to work changing the in tank pump. Got it out and when disconnecting the wiring from the top of the pump we noticed the connector was melted slightly, which would explain why it was hard to get off and the probably reason why the pump wasnt working as its not very old and is a Walbro unit. So the guy at the Lucas garage went to fetch an old pump assembly him and the guys had been messing with and we swapped the wire and dropped it all back into the tank and re-connected the pipes. Result, it lives again!!! Bit worrying that a wire thats submersed in petrol got hot enough to melt the connector, even though it wouldnt have caused an explosion. So big thanks to Paul, Danny and the guys at Lucas, in particular the guy at the parts desk, cant remember his name, think it was Scott??

i was used to it in the punto..its a bad feeling though glad its sorted sounds like it would have been loads worse if you wernt so close!

i hate breaking down ive broke down in serveral places cos gearbox blown up on me a couple of times i hate it how every1 stares at you but theres only a few people what actually stop and help lol .
