The fastest time he did that weekend in his mk2 supra was
1/4 at 174 mph with a 8.0 sec flat.

he was beaten in the final though by leon Greens Supra!

Also CPL racings Civic Type R broke the european FWD record and ran IIRC a 10.6 1/4 mile!!!!

Yea was beaten in the final cos of car issues (the last run was 9 sec's and the one that won only did 8.9.

He still won the HKS PRO CLASS CHAMPIONS 2007 tho

And the car is XS POWER

Still went quicker with a Chevy in it though

Not as big as you'd think. Plus when the engine design over 50 years old, running with a single camshaft and pushrods, capacity doesn't really enter the equation lol

was reading the specs last night for leons supra, and although the engine is obviously highlty tuned and making 1100bhp im sure a lot of his speed comes from the fact its running massive mickey thompson drag slicks and is running a 2 speed auto box.

also Dee ireland's CRD supra is running "air shift" whats that all about lee?

If I remember rightly, Dee runs a 2 speed Powerglide in the Supra? Anyway, although a Powerglide is classed as an auto, all it means is that there's a torque converter instead of a clutch, shifting still has to be done manually. An air shifter for a Powerglide looks something like this......



The little air solenoid at the base will "punch" the shifter from 1st to 2nd gear, either via a controller at a preset engine RPM, or via a button on the steering wheel. It's just a convienience thing really, and a lot more consistent than by hand. As you can see though, you can still switch it off and shift by hand if you like though.

We run an airshifter on the Camaro too, although with out trans being a manual it's a little different....







Each pod in the picture is a different gear, and by pressing the button on the shifter tower, this acts on a fork which engages the ratio. The reason we use air is because Lenco transmissions are notorious for jumping out of gear when using levers. When using air, the selector fork is under 500psi of constant air pressure so cannot jump out. Plus, you can punch a button a lot faster than you can pull a lever back, so the shifts are a lot closer to the shift light everytime. You may notice too that on 4th gear (the rearmost pod) there is a seperate air pipe coming off it too. This is a feed for an air switch so that when 4th gear is shifted, the ignition timing alters too.
