Hi Everyone

Haven't been on here for a while so thought I would introduce myself again! My name is Pippa and I work for Auto-Media.

Auto-Media are a company which are on the organising teams of some of the most major shows in the UK. We will be keeping you all updated about the shows, such as Street Life and what’s happening. We will be posting looking for cars for the major competitions at the shows, such as the Best in Britain, Best in the South etc.

Should anyone have any questions about any of the shows, then please don't hesitate to ask.

Many Thanks,
Pippa

RE: Hi Everyone

Yep, still got the old dragon!

We are working on ISTS, JTS and Autotuner for Autoglym and the event organisers again this year.

I'll sort you a separate post with details of Street Life - It is on the old MPL date but it is not Max Power relaunched as is different organisers. We have unlimited club space too!

Pip

I do, I do, I do.....

Why are most of the UKs big modified car shows, full of almost bog standard cars in recent years?

RE: Hi Everyone

The way people want to style their cars has changed over the years - not everybody wants mental cars anymore.

Also, insurance costs, a lack of sponsorship deals and the general costs of modifying has affected things.

If you are a member of a club you should be able to attend even with a standard car - you have to start somewhere and get inspiration!

But people pay to go to a modified car show to see modified cars, not an event that looks like any Asda carpark on a weekend.

1 - Insurance is cheaper now for modified cars than it ever has been. More insurance companies are prepared to cover modified cars & so thus are now doing battle with prices.
2 - Modified cars have currently produced a huge market. There is now more shops & suppliers than ever before. This has brought the cost of mods down & has also made way for a lot more sponsorship deals. You should have tried to get a free set of alloys 15 years ago!

You should then leave your car in the carpark & go in on foot. The cruise websites & the like (this one included) have done a lot to spoil car shows by filling them up with stock cars. The real petrol heads are then put off attending because they don't want to wade through all the tat to see a dozen good modified cars in total.

ps, welcome to maxxd.
it's good to have someone with a point of veiw, rather than another sheep. Icon_smile

pps, since you know alanman, tell him he doesn't get bonus points for the new brakes in show & shine!!! lol

RE: Hi Everyone

Newth, if you knew me you would know I am not a sheep in the modifying world! When Jason talks about the old dragon he doesnt mean the one on the Supra!

I have been lucky enough over the years to be sponsored by various companies such as Toyo, Autopart, Konig, Wheelmania, Do-Luck, Kicker, Fusion, Wolfrace to name but a few. There may be local shops out there willing to offer a discount for putting their name on a car - but gone are the days when you could build a top level showcar on proper sponsorship. I still work with many traders ref their show cars as events.

I also know the insurance market well - yes more offer modified insurance - but in general the cost for a lad to insure a base model older car is horrific - never mind once you add mods.

I guess we will have to continue this in person at a show - I do like to meet people who say what they like rather than what they think I want to hear, just because I work for events! I am sure Ollie and alanman will point you in my direction!!!!!!!!!!!
