Anyone know if a gearbox out of a corsa sport 1.4 ecotec will fit into a corsa sport 1.6 ecotec?:o

gearbox on mines dying and my mate has got a 1.4 gearbox but i rang a mechanic and he sez he doesnt know if it would fit. something about a long geared shaft or a short geared shaft??

anyone know anything??:confused:

pretty sure it will fit m8 but may have to change clutch plate to suit

Bit long winded but the best thing to do is go on Auto Trader and get a reg number from a 1.4 and a 1.6 sport model and then ring your Vauxhall dealer, ask them if the bboxes or clutch plates are different.

BTW has your car got a personalised plate on? C** RSA?

just thort im never gonna be ridin round at 130 and putting smaller gearbox on will produce bit better acceleration but lose abit topend so if i'm gettin a new box mite aswell try a 1.4

Thought it might have been spotted a black Corsa with white wheels near the Honda garage or a couple of week back thats all.

If it works might make it a little quicker off the mark as well, some 106 gti owners put 106 1.4 xsi for the shorter ratio.

hi all, well bought the g/box from a 1.4 sport, got to my mate whos a mechanic and firstly the shaft was too long so had to chop down then realised it was cable drivin speedo so if fitted the speedo wouldn't work

fuckin pain in the arse paid ?40 for 1.4 g/box now gtta get a 1.6 g/box today 80 fuckin quid. payin me mate 100 quid 2 fit it so not 2 bad just a ball ache coz it could of been done 2day
