Got flashed...

I was driving around Central yesterday n got flashed by a speed camera, i was doing 37-38mph in a 30mph zone, i thought it was a 40mph zone, but obviously not!

Worst part about it i had 3 points coming off this month so my license would of been clean, gutted!

Does anyone know if there's any way around this? if i can pay a bigger fine? go on a speed awareness course?

I have known people do a speed awareness coarse but they've been offered it. I don't know if you can ask for one.

Who can go on the course?
The National Speed Awareness Scheme is offered to a number of offending motorists after they have been caught speeding. Usually the drivers eligible will be those that have exceeded the legal limit but not by a huge amount. Each individual police force will decide what their margins are. If you are invited to attend such a course you will be given a specific date, time and location to attend and you will need to accept the offer, or decline and take the fine and the points on your license instead.

Yeh, i know of a few people that of done it, just need to find out what sort of speeds they were doing to get to go on it!

Be careful if you go down that route. Admitting you can't remember what the road sign said is basically admitting you were driving without due care and attention and not adhering to the rules of the road.
