Engine's

Right then people I need some simple help please.

My crank shaft in my car has gone, due to my oil pump breaking. So no oil was getting around or something.

Basically looking on Ebay there are some 1.6 ztec s engines for sale out of a puma, would one of them fit into my puma?

Please help if so I will be buying one tomorrow and it will be going in tomorrow night.

Thanks

Your Dad must know this....i assume he will be fiting it?

Id say yes. Best thing to do is look on puma owners club but cant you find the 1.4 unit you have now? it would be a straight swap no messing no problems and same insurance and no log book problems.

If you are upgrading check that the mounts are the same, it mates up to the 1.4 gearbox and that you get the 1.6 ECU with the engine.

if it does then remeber you need to tell swap the logbook (Unless you leave it as a 1.4 so you only pay 1.4 ins)

Does the cost of a new engine outweigh the replacement parts i.e oil pump, crankshafts any other bits affected?

Thought you had a new engine in this a few month back?

The oil pump has failed, or has the car been run with no/low oil?

Dont bother with an engine off of ebay either, your best going on some owners clubs and getting one out of a car someones crashed, at least then you'll have some idea of what mileage its done, what the previous owner was like etc.

in my limited experience of moding cars, it's not worth uprating the engine in that way. u just get problem after problem & get raped by insurance.

it's one thing swapping ur 1.4 block for a 3.0 supercharged unit, but not to a 1.6, go buy that sort of standard car.

the only justification for uprating to something that's basically available as standard, is if u've already spent ?20000 on the shell.

I'd agree, just find a smashed up puma in a breakers or something and get the standard engine. Much less hassle, straight swap without messing with the ECU or the loom.

Sign up on Fiesta Network I think its called and ask the question, its going to be easier and cheaper to find a Fiesta engine, than get one from a smashed up Puma, even though its probably the same running gear.

There was oil in there!! When you checked the dip stick it showed up with oil on it, at the correct level.

My dad don't seem to bothered lol I was supposed to be part exchasing my car in soon but it don't look like it now.

O well.

Thanks Matty I will take a look.
