Engine Trouble

My car doesn't seem to be cooling when stood at lights etc and i can't hear the fan kicking in either, the car seems to be running abit hotter than normal.

What could be causing this and what can i do to sort it out?

if the fans not kicking in, get it tested. normally points to the fuse, switch on the engine block or the fan itself.

10 minutes work with a multimeter, normally.

my advice, if u know nothing about it, seek someone to have a look at it.

but......
u need to measure the voltage across the fan & switch, to ensure thats there to start with.

by-pass the switch to make sure it's not that

directly wire the fan to 12volts to test that.

best thing to do is park it up with the engine running and once it gets to the "normal temp" (usually about half way) the fan should kick in.... but DONT let it run too hot!

it could be that the weather changing has caused it to run a little hotter, try dropping the water and puttin some fresh water and anti-freeze/coolant in.

Yes the heaters are blowing hot, i've topped the coolant up already and that asn't made any difference. I've also let the engine run twice now and when it gets to the normal temp the fan doesn't kick in.

sounds like a dodgy connection or fuse

Look on the fuse panel and it should have a list of what is what find the fan fuse and check it then come back to us.
