Just to re-elaborate, clay doesn't make your car shine. It just makes the surface before polish/wax much better by removing contaminents.

Clay removes everything from your paint, right down to the clear coat/paint surface. So once you've clayed, be sure to polish and wax, or at the very least wax.

Else you'll just speed up paint fade.

If you look closely at your bonnet and then at maybe a wing, I bet

i noticed that just by brushing my hand over the body work... you can feel the smoothness of the bonnet and the little grity bumps in the panels.

That's exactly it. If you clay that area it'll feel smooth, do it a couple of times and it'll feel like glass. But you have to then ensure that you polish or at least wax it because you'll have removed absolutely every protective covering on the paint and lacquer at that point.

It's really easy, no where near as hard as you think, wet a wing and rub it with clay and dry the wing. Takes a couple of mins per panel!

I get that you have to wax/polish it, but does it not leave a residue on the car?
