To clarify for the Icon_rolleyes

'knowledge masters' among us:

Banded wheels are NOT illegal, providing the quality of the welding carried out is of a sufficient standard (after all, wheels have always been welded to rims) but extreme wheels poking out of arches too far IS illegal.

I have a friend who is a head inspector for VOSA and he has made lots of indepth checks on this matter. I have also looked at the 'Construction and Use' grey book which is the guide anyone in this country has to comply with to build a car.

If the car sits with the rims out like that - then sorry, yes - it's illegal.

the car is cool as fuck and the rims are even better

So long as he is happy - thats all that matters IMO. Just thought I would clarify the 'they're illegal blah blah' comments others have posted.

I love the banded rims and don't give a toss if it looks like the A-Team van.

I loved the fucking A-Team and banded rims might be making an appearance on my new camper (see projects).

If you like it - enjoy it (but watch out for mardy feds!)

dude it looks cool as fuck, the wheels are abit too far out even for my liking, i tend to like just abit of 'poke'

thats gotta be one of the cleanest mk1's in the country surely!

lmao i love the attention and contreversie the car creates......the wheels are a big part of the car and will be stopping on until i can afford new ones which will be my daily wheels and the wellers for shows/meets. So peeps chill.

ps does anyone know a cheapish place too set my seats re-dun in vinyl??
