i think more and more people will have them as they are really good and one drive makes you want one, at my work place we have a sti r/a spec which is made lighter in every way for maximum speed i think there about 280bhp this is the first scooby ive driven and it defo makes you want one.

Just purely depends on what you're in to, like most cars really. As has been mentioned before, a lot of people get drawn to the Impreza because of the whole "it's a Subaru so it's gotta be the fastest thing on the road" mentality. It's usually these that get abused, stickered and ultimately fubared. P1's, 22B's, Spec C's etc aren't chavvy at all, they're pretty decent machines, but they are stll the ones that the chavvy non-turbo Impreza driver aspires to!
They are good at what they're intended for, but I don't think anyone could argue that they buy one because it's a nice car. The panels are thin enough to read through, the build quality is pretty suspect and the interior isn't exactly it's strongest feature, even on the hawk eye. I'd say the majority of Subaru's are bought to be thrashed and because they make a noise. Does that make it chavvy though, I dunno?
It's all down to whatever floats yer boat, I wouldn't want a 4WD scrabble wagon, and the sound gets on my tits after a while to be honest. But then again, there are plenty of folks who wouldn't be seen dead in a 40 year old muscle car, where as I usually cream my tweeds at the sight of one lol!
*insert witty remark here*
