care and detailing guide?

yo dudes!

i was wondering if you guys could write, or show me where i could find a care care and detailing guide...

something that tels people the best way to clean their cars, and the best techniques to use..

it is for the guide pages of the maxxd directory, and the people that write it will be thanked at the end of the guide Icon_smile

i just thought it would be nice to put "Guide thanks to XXX, XXX and XXX of the maxxd.com car club" at the end of it, instead of just stealing one off the internet like i normally do Icon_lol

Two bucket method, buy quality wash mitts and leathers and use a car wash that does not strip the wax.

Polish to improve the paint, remove defects, haziness swirls and scratches etc PC it if nesseary, but always try claybars to remove things that have bonded to the paintwork. Dont thin the paintunessearliy.

Wax or Seleant to enhance the paint and get the desired finish and protect the paint work.

Apply tyre spray with a old bit of ripped of sponge, and always detail the trim.

it started to rain when i was drying the car so there is not many picsIcon_mad

so here goes.
this is what i used

first i did the wheels with these

sprayed on the APC first and cleaned with the mitt then rinsed.

then sprayed the AG clean wheels and cleaned with the mitt then rinsed.

next was to was the car using two buckets and a seperate mitt.

after that i clayed the car using these

spray the quick detailer onto the paint using the clay apply light finger pressure on it and rub from side to side and wipe dry with the microfible cloth, keep needing the clay and turning to clean side. your clay will look like this. there is only a bit of dirt showing as it was clayed about 2 months ago. if you drop the clay on the floor throw away!!

then start to dry the car with a microfiber towell. i pat dry not drag but its your personal preference

the when i had started to dry the bottom half of the car it started raining, so im just going put what i would have done next in bullet points

  • after drying the car de-tar the paint by using AG intevsive tar remover.
  • clean the paint with megs DC step 1.
  • polish the paint with megs DC step 2.
  • wax with megs DC step 3.
  • wax the hole car again with Chemical guys xxx paste wax leave to cure for about 10 min then buff off.
  • while thats curing polish the wheels using megs metal polish and then wax using the chemical guys wax and leave that to cure for 10 min then buff off.
  • spary megs hot tyre shine on an old small sponge and wipe onto tyres.
  • spray AG vinyl and rubber care on bumper strips and exterior plastics.
  • clean the glass with AG fast glass inside and out.
  • hoover out interior.
  • for the dash and other interior plastics spray APC (diluted to 10:1) onto a cloth and wipe them.
  • spray AG vinyl and rubber care onto dash, door cards and any interior plastics and wipe with a microfibre cloth.
when its stops raining i will edit this so there are pics for everything thats in bullet points.

Feel free to use the 2 bucket method if ya like however i dont-to be fair hard to put in which order or how extreme you wanna be based on a cars condition-however i`ll have a go-this is for those without a Porter cable as ive got mine to this condition without one.

At this stage isnt important what you wash it with- I used regular wash and wax (cheap stuff)up untill about 6month ago.

so start of by washing the car-up to you wether you use a mitt/microfibre sponge/regular sponge

At this stage isnt important what you wash it with- I used regular wash and wax (cheap stuff)up untill about 6month ago.

so start of by washing the car-up to you wether you use a mitt/microfibre sponge/regular sponge £5 says once leathered off nobody on here could tell which you`d used (though i do have microfibre sponge-above still applies i never noticed any marks/swirls from regular sponge-bought one to try so i use it)then leather car off-i use autoglyms aqua-dry synthetic chamois and will do forever probably.

If its the first time youve attempted doing any polishing on your paintwork and you can feel imperfections in the paint-roof/bonnet/back/bottoms of doors especially(though remember wont lose stonechips Icon_biggrin it just pulls the crap out ya paint)its worth claying,if however you polish regular already but want to do a better job and your cars not bad to start with wouldnt bother as to build bk up to the shine youve got already will take alot longer after claying.
Claying doesnt remove swirls in fact if your not careful with the clay can create em be sure to keep cleaning the clay with the quick detailer if its getting heavily soiled from the paint and change the piece of clay round your rubbing against the bodywork by rolling up and flattening bk out etc as once the mucks in the clay can create scratches.

Like i say depends if you want a shortcut or arms killing you to be fair as to what you do at this stage could tell ya to use really fine wet and dry to wet flat the finish bk however if youre not confident dont do it.(sure meguiars will have a guide somewhere)again never done it on mine however done right makes a massive difference.

If your cars faded (bad) use t-cut std or metallic depending on ya paint im probably gonna get slated for that but to me for the money theres nothing better.follow with your usual polish once the t-cut is on rubbing t-cut off is a pain however rubbing polish on top of t-cut offs easyIcon_biggrin(based on liquid polishes)

At this stage recommend poorboys professional polish hard work however easier than t-cut (this does remove swirls on mine)Apply with meguiars sponge applicator rub off with cotton stockinette cloth.

follow with poorboys polish with 100% carnauba apply and remove as above.

follow this with poorboys Ex sealant and if youve followed above get these results

for perfectionists follow with collinite 915 wax

thats why your cars shiny shiny everytime i see it

Lol yer will be tonight aswellIcon_biggrinthough to be fair try allsorts mate thats an old pic the first , collinites recent-ish though.

Bear in mind ppl you only need to go this far maybe twice a yr if ya polish ya car fairly regular in between. most of the time i just wash/leather off/polish.
