Building of my 6th SX

As a few of you know i've started yet another project, I had hoped it would have been completed for modified nationals but due to a few unforscene circumstances this wont be happening so hopefully be on the road now by mid june just in time for summer.

Picked this up for a song! The body is as near to mint as you could find with only minimal rust around the wing mount which will be promtly cut out for an oversized cold air feed along with the whole car being stitchwelded for added strangth.

And siting on my other wheels, dont worry arch gap will be corrected Icon_wink

The ideaa with this project was to beat the 300bhp the old one was running and to be fair getting much more power out of the little 1.8 was starting to go into expensive and unreliable terratory so an engine swap would be on the cards.

stripping as much out as possible to get at the engine -

Out we come, easy does it -

Empty engine bay to work with -

So what to replace it with? well again as a few of you know a couple of weeks before i purchased a fairly low milage (49k) but a little scruffy R33 GTS-T Skyline which i was trying to decide what to do with so it'd be only right to use the engine and transmission in the SX for much better power to weight ratio.

Semi stripped skyline (we actually dropped the engine to the floor on the jack and lifted the car around it with the crane)

With engine and gearbox out -

Moving back to prep work on the SX, rear subframe removed ready for painting along with all new bushes and alignment arms.

Basically thats as far as ive got and due to a little accident the other day works going to be slow for a week or 2 until i regain use of the finger i tried to remove Icon_lol Gutted really as could have got loads done with all this nice weather, Theres been loads of other stuff ive been busy with aswell as working on this, skyline is now a bare shell and parts i dont need being sold on to aid funding but theres no need for photos of that. Both wiring looms are out and will be sent off this week to get converted, custom prop shaft is on its way, exhaust, front mount, race rad, brakes, 5 stud hubs, coilovers etc etc. have all been bought and are either under my bed or in the garage.

RE: Building of my 6th SX

Bit of an update, was put on hold while i got the mr2 back on the road but as thats all done now i cracked on with this again.
couple of bits arrived in the post a few weeks ago -

Cat back exhaust, 3inch bore

Custom prop altho think i may buy an alloy one piece

skyline and sx loom soon to be boxed up neatly (perhaps) and sent off to be converted.

Today i started out striping down the rear end and undersealing, whole rear end is now done. May not look much but took most of the day.

removed a bit more weight by scrapping the stock diff pump and cooler

Few other bits and pieces ive done but not taken photos of due to being too dirty, i'll get them up next time. Icon_cheesygrin
