My corsa is going into the body shop and im unsure weather to have a bonnet extension because a) will the engine overheat b) will there be no airflow going through the engine?
The engine is only a 1.2 and takes very little time to heat up at the moment so if i had the extension what would happen?
Cheers!
it wont affect the car mechanically the bumper has most of the airflow going to the rad.
Airflow will still get in the engine maybe not as much which MAY result in a higher intake temprature but as its not a "Performance" car then you shouldnt feel the difference
Maybe a coolant change or seperate cold air feed pipe running from the bumper up to the engine might put your mind at ease a bit more.
Hope that helps
if u have spot lights then i would just take the both out and use them as a feed for more cold air.
There won't be no air getting through the bumper because its all going to be smoothed off.
you havin th lights extended over or the middle???
if your smootin the whole bumper off it may be worth fittin an extra rad fan, or having it on a lower temp setting (if that can be done - ask bruton)
you won the lottery or something???
It's just being extended in the middle t meet with the curve on the bumper n no i havn't won the lottery dan if i had then i wouldn't be driving a corsa lol.
Will the extra fan work though because if the engine get hot and the fan(s) come on there won't be no cool air they will just be circulating the warm air?
Thanks for everyones help so far but i need a little more help/advise of what to do, will it overheat? how much for extra fan? will it not just circulate warm air? Should i do it or not?
I need to let the body shop know in the next couple of days so all the help would be appreciated.
Thanks again.
dont smooth the bumper, the bump strips yea not the lower grilles.
doubt youll be able to fit a extra fan mate, if you have same rad as in my 1.8 and same fan size theres no way ur getting another on mate.
id suggest keeping lower grilles!
as far as i no all fans cirulate warm air. i think u wil be best going to a car garage and asking them and describin to them what you want doin and see what they say.
i think as long as there is some where for the cool air to get thru you'll be fine..
and like they said, if in doubt get some ducting and duct the cold air to the parts that need it..
