Just killed second gear in the Impreza on my way home from work. Wasnt far from my house so drove it back but can hear bits rattling round so cars off road for now. Had to go and buy another car for work tomorrow so i've got an R reg Rover 420 turbo diesel. Its shit but has T&T and was round the corner so will have to do till I can get 3K together for a rebuild. Damn twin plate carbon clutch lol, it just doesnt slip. Major shock torque = destroyed gears

Ya gotta love imprezas:hi: if it makes ya feel any better knackered 5th gear syncro/gear hub, selector fork and shaft on mine at 33,000miles on the std clutch-another impreza"common problem" just werent expectin it at so low miles however werent spendin that sorta money on a new/uprated box, got it done with std bits, exedy organic clutch and lightweight flywheel cost ?1400 all in fitted. If it goes again findin a sti6 5spd gettin that rebuilt an in it goes with rear diff, dont want a later type 6spd sti box like most ppl throw in(though they are pretty strong)
shit dude!
that is BAD news!
is it really gonna cost 3k to fix???
FARRRRK!!!!
you will sort it cheaper than that mate
dude talk to dave (mr Miyagi) like he said not long had his box rebuilt and im sure he said the firm he used was cheap and good
I could sort it for less, but im going for the PPG straight cut gearset. Wont break then. 6spd is a cheaper option but the ratios are crap apparently and I wouldnt know where to look for one. Did see one on eBay once with prop shaft and rear diff for 1500, but im just gonna bite the bullet and go PPG. It was what I wanted in the future anyway, just didnt expect it to go this quick, good job i've got loads of overtime recently. Will get it mapped at the same time.
?5 says you`ll sit down in a pile of bills in the not to distant future thinking fcuk me ive got a car worth ?5k that stands me around ?20k some mods/lots of repairs lol hate to be a bit of a bringer of doom an gloom however with some cars ie showcars where its mainly styling mods the moneys spent on ya can see where the moneys gone-with scoobys ya tend to sometimes get repeat problems or like yav found out ya strengthen one thing then something else breaks its very easy to get carried away an find out ya broke !!! got a mate with a sti-type r on subaru-impreza.org thats got ?22k worth of bills, runs 350bhp and`s a R-reg.
Daz whose red pulsar used to get seen around town alot stood him at around ?30k including buying it hence daz saying fcuk it an buying the astra vxr with a warranty lol-it can quite easily get ya to the stage where ya thinking fook me what could i have bought for say ?12k in the first place summat like an 03/04sti and had a better base car-coz classics are for nowt these days price wise.
Personally wouldnt go mad with it most of our lots found if it aint the engine its the boxes fookin up would put a couple of grand to one side an you`ll be fine pmsl

That said youre probably like me an like the classic shape best just a shame theyre worth next to nothing.
Respect ya loads if in a few yrs youve still got it and it hasnt pissed you off big time coz they test ya patience and wallet at times.
Has it broke after you have had everything fitted or before?
Sorry to hear the news and cant believe how much its gonna cost. It would take me a year to save up that much to get it repaired :O
It broke after I had the bits fitted. I know the cars not worth much, but I just enjoy doing it. Did the same with my 5, got over 15k of receipts in a folder but i'd be lucky to get a grand for it at the mo. I do prefer the classic shape of the Impreza, just wish I had bought an STi to start with, although I will be changing all the bits that were better in the STi anyway.
Sorry to hear bout the gear box.mine went last month but i didnt get a super 1 jst to get me buy until i can get a better 1.wot site u seen dem PPG's on?
Was looking on Scooby Clinics site. Need somewhere local as they need to come pic the car up as I dont want to drive it anywhere. Gonna cost more than I thought too as I want billet selector forks as well.
