Few new bits ordered :
I know it says rallye, you can have them customised.
I'm having it with out a logo and just silver stitching. These are based on the original pug gaiter so should look good when on.
Also I'm repalcing the gear knob for the ones thats on the later GTI model with the metal cap.

fab...
Ste where are you getting the gaiter from.. i want one in white which says 306 rallye
Fitted the sterring wheel over the weekend,
Before
After
Also fitted the new gearknob and custom leather gaiter with the silver stitching.

UPDATE - WIP
Started to fabricate some panels for the inside rear quarters.
Decide to go with some thin tread plate.
Panel looked like this to begin with :
I had a set of rear cards that I have butchered to get the outline of my template
After several sessions with the jigsaw and stanley knife I had made my cardboard template up
with the plate cut out i offered it up to the panel
Seems to fit really well. gonna smooth the edges and just fettle it a bit to get a really good fit. I'll be using stainless screws to attach it to the panel and to make it easy to remove if i need access to the wiring behind there.
Update..
Your all probably aware now that the engine is broken in my pug. It seems the oil leak I've had over the past week is down to the compression rings on the pistons being worn.
Pressure has been building up in the crankcase and causing the dipstick to come out and allowing oil to spray everywhere in the engine bay.
I have sourced another engine + box + ancillaries and I'm very grateful to Olliewestwood for going to pick it up for me.
My plan of attack is to regasket, new racing clutch and do the timing belt whilst the new engine is out (hopefully with the help of nez!). Then clean and paint the engine block before putting it into the 106. whilst the old engine is out, I will take the time to give the engine bay a good fettle.
So the 106 will be missing donny, but should be back for nationals
very very strange that dude, as if your rings were worn i thought it would of smoked it tits off, but what do i know, ill just stick to my chips.
I know thats what i thought, but if it's creating pressure in the crankcase and enough of it to make the dipstick come out something has gotta be wrong.
When i finally recreated the problem the other night. I had the engine revving around 4k for about 1 minute. I watched the dipstick get pushed out 3" and my hand got covered in warm oil.
Gutted for you Ste matey, thought it was a wind up when Stacy text me the other morning.......April fool and all!
B x
Cheers
Good news though.
Olliedavidson has picked up my new engine and box and it's on it's way to me as we speak

Glad you found another engine

I'm glad we got it sorted last night. I can be working on it next weekend if all goes to plan.
We managed to get
this
for £150 which i didn't think was too bad considering alot of other lsitings for the same thing would fetch closer to £300. TBH I reckon the guy that sold it didn't know the value of what he had. but hey ho, it's good for me

Pretty sure that's what I diagnosed on Sunday
