We have had a few people come to us over the past few weeks having alarms fitted, because they had there cars broken into and the insurance company wouldnt pay, Due to them telling the insurance company that they had a factory fitted alarm.
When they checked they only have remote central locking.

Just because your remote locks and unlocks your doors doesnt mean you have an alarm or immobiliser for that matter and if the insurance are cottoning onto this as a way not to pay its well worth double checking what security you have on your cars.
Well hope this doesn't get deleted as a for sale post cause it aint, I'm offering a factory fitted toyota alarm off my toyota paseo, which I'm breaking, for free if anybody has any use for it. I'll be scrapping the car soon so your more than welcome to come help me remove it from the car. U will only need a keyfob as long as you take the wiring etc with you! might help somebody!!
i hear ya andy!

ive had factory fitted alarms on before... they suck Icon_lol
What im aiming to tell you is if you have remote central locking it doesnt mean you have an alarm aswell. If you assume you have one and tell the insurance company then they can refuse to pay if they realise you didnt have one
Ah i get you, so check and if its not an alarm then make sure you only specify its remote central locking ONLY - else you insurance will be void?
yes the best way to check is to wind your window down then arm the car, then unlock it and open it from the inside by puttin your arm through the window, if an alarm sounds then presume you have one!!!! lmao
