First German car i have had.. and yup its broke down 4 weeks old and after only 3,000 miles good work!!

All the crap i get of German car fans and this is the only car ive had that has required AA assistance to tow it Icon_razz

The German car crew should be ashamed !!

Long live French cars Icon_cheesygrin
To be honest think the older dubs were better, everyone i know with mk4 golfs and one with a mk5 gti`s had aggro.

Icon_cheesygrin Whilst i prefer jap stuff out of the lot, previously had a 106gti i had from new that were trouble free till 42,000 mile when it needed wishbones and a wheel sensor though wishbones were down to me-had billsteins on it which didnt help.
i agree with the german rubbish statement.

I've only owned one, it needed a full engine rebuild.
Dan's only ever owned 2. They also needed full engine rebuilds.

at least when we had real shitty fords, you expected it.

here here tom.

what happened to it anyway?

here here,, and this fr isnt danny p,s old one by any chance is it ?
Nah its brand spanking new.....

It went into some gay limp home mode and had 3 warning lights lit, SEAT said the exhaust was blocked from doing short journeys in it... despite me explaining its 4 weeks old and has done 3,000 miles!! There not bothered is what they really meant i think..

It had about 20Bhp and a 3k rev limiter, AA man was puzzled despite plugging it in and ringing allot of people so it was towed back to SEAT and left blocking there car park lol!

Also its haveing to go back in 2 weeks time for niggley bits like loud rattles and a damaged stereo.. so good work seat..

Moral of the story .... buy French!! and German cars suck Icon_wink
But its SPANISH !!! Do you really think Uncle Fritz is going to give the Diegos his top notch parts ? They're made from the bits picked out the bins at VW Icon_biggrin
Icon_razz

There all the bloody same at the end of the day, its got more VW / Audi logos on it then Seat badges lol... and the bit that they blamed it on the exhaust just had VW badges embossed onto it as its the same on the golf lol!

lol i love the reliability of different manufacturers debate.

all cars break down, always have always will.

sounds like you got a right lemon though tom!

and to go againt the grain, my dads 03 passat tdi has done 177,000 miles with no trouble other than servicing, a clutch, and an oil cooler. french cars are like donkeys, not that clever but go on forever.
ive had alsorts, and they are all crap Icon_lol

its down to maintenance and how you drive em..

i am crap at maintaining them and drive badly so thats why mine fall apart Icon_lol
160,000 mile 51reg mk4, no problems apart from maintaining it or things ive done to it.
Weve had quite a few Seats in just recently and all less than 2 years old. Faults are relating to crank sensor signal being sporadic but its down to the cranks bending like pipecleaners.
I dont have a list of cars I can recomend but I do have a large list of cars not to have and seats are near the top Icon_smile
maybe the VAG lot are more concerned with the quality of vw's/audi's rather than the seats?
I didnt have many problems with the Polo, same with the Mk2. All ran more or less perfect for me Icon_smile
