hello people..i have a sub and amp in my car which was wired up by a friend it worked fine for a while now its just stopped working altogether.Any ideas on what this could be?i cant see any loose wires or anything like that.halfords want to charge £40 just to look at it not sure of any other places where to take it
Stopped working won't turn on, or stopped working turns on but no output? Or something else?
Check it's getting power first.
If it is then have any settings been changed (either by you, someone else or some outside force)?
Is your head unit still giving an output?
my head unit still works although my speakers sound a bit fuzzy now.theres no power at all
Check there's still power coming from the battery to the amp (multi-meter, DO NOT put it on your tongue, it IS NOT a 9V battery ;]) If there's power getting to the amp, but it's not turning on, the amp is at fault. If power isn't getting to the amp, check the cables and connectors, and the fuse (if it is, which it should be, both a fuse in the amp and one in the cable). If the fuse is blown, replace it with one of the same size, if it blows again, come back here. DO NOT replace it with a bigger one.
try and move the earth to a different place and scratch around where its going so its on bare metal

when my earth went dodgy on mine the amp turned off altogether with no lights on the amp lit
Also check the remote on feed if your amp has one, if that's down then the amp won't know it's meant to be on.
thanx for replying..tried moving the earth cable-no luck dont want to mess around with wires 2 much as i havn't a clue n i'll probably blow myself up, although had a quick check & they all seem connected securely.guess both the sub and amp r just f**ked
