My engine managment light is on my car at the moment and the problem needs sorting ASAP as ive just brought something for the engine and the corsa's BHP will be going up

So i have 2 questions

1. Does anyone know a good local garage with a fault code reader

or

2. Does anyone know how to do a paper clip test, as you can do this to find out what the problem is

Any help would be great!

I have one at my dads house that you can borrow if you want...

Has a book with it telling you what means what etc

have you tried disconnecting the battery, it worked when mine came on after my last run down the pod last year in my vectra

a paper clip test only tells you if theres a problem on the CAN system really and wouldnt really tell u the component at fault, u wud get a high ohms reading if the fault was on the can system, well thats the way on the volvos but the principle shud b the same surely! if u wanna do this then u wud need 2 find which pins are for the can high n can low signal wires on the obd socket! then carry out an ohms check
but before i did that i wud just try removing the earth lead on the battery n leave disconnected for a while n see if that resets the light, if nt u need a fault code reader,

I have an OBD II code reader if you need...if you want to pop down to Woodhouse tonite i can read it and tell you what it is there and then. (As long as your motor is OBD II compliant - some newer stuff is different?!?)

They are only about £15 on ebay - they are worth getting for anyone that doesn't have one.

If anyone does need to borrow it anytime just give us a shout!

he's local and dead cheap.
