right can anyone tell me what sort of stuff to buy to make the escort look really really shiny as its ready for a very good clean at the mo and would like it to have a nice shine in the sun when we get some

Depends how far ya want to go mate,just poorboys professional polish and einszett waxpolish soft will make it look pretty cool can add sealants and waxes etc but you wouldnt be dissapointed with those 2, professional polish is about £12 though wont need that often best applied with a microfibre applicator than cloth or meguiars sponge applicator buffed off with just autoglym cloths or normal cotton stockinette on a roll from car shops-microfibre cloths dont fetch this off very well.
Einszett waxpolish soft is about £14/ltr tin will last ages apply with microfibre applicator again, for best results buff off with microfibre cloth.
Both of above produce good results on red.
