Cars just had a re-paint so my car is now at the beginning stage and I would like to keep it clean and shiny. I also have white wheels which need keeping the same.
I currently use Zymol shampoo and autoglym window polish. Didn't polish the bodywork before because it was appalling!
So I need a recommendation for:
Bodywork polish (also to be used on wheels)
Window polish (it's a bit dusty)
Tyre black
Wax
I will not have the patience for claying it so no point in tryin to convince me
I don't want high end stuff and I don't want crappy stuff that takes an age to put on and off. I need user friendly stuff
Hope you can help!
Firstly you wont need to clay ted as its been done however it will fetch off any overspray on wheels/windows nicely, i have a clay bar and lube if you wanna give it a go
Polish you cant go wrong with Auto Glym Super Resin although Poorboys and Chemical Guys both do pretty good polishes
I use AG window glass polish but its a little dusty in application, AG Fast Glass is good to clean it, not sure if it needs polishing but im sure Dave will reccommed something if needed
As for your rims, Ask smithy to borrow som Rimwax that we got free through dave (I think smithy has it) thats pretty good stuff and will keep dust at bay, other than that AG SRP again.
Wax...Collinite 915 is good value (£20 ish)and lots of people like it, i really like AG HD wax easy to apply and can be found for £26-£30 quid
Or as your car is white Dodo Juice light fantastic has mixed reviews but is supposed to be good on white (around £32)
If you can be arsed (and i know you cant sometimes) a sealent like Jetseal 109 or AG Extra Gloss protection or Poorboys EX-P sealant All about £10 - it goes over Polish and under your wax and will give it a wet look shine for longer, you can just clean and top up your wax if done regularly
Tyre black, lots use Megs but i use either Auto Glym Tyre Dressing or Poorboys Tyre dressing
Group buy discount at top gets 10% off poorboys etc too
Oh and invest in some decent applicators and polishing/buffing cloths too!
Ted, bring it round mine this weekend if u want, i got some products we can use. You should at least give it a coat of sealent and a few coats of wax to protect your new paint. I'm sure Uk_dave will see this and recommend if its worth claying after having a respray. Yeh i have the rim wax too, pretty good stuff. Smells nice too!.
blackfire after seeing daves and lee's brilliant 21 quid

ill be getting some
blackfire looks awesome. Not sure how it would look on a white car though as i think its really designed for darker colours to bring out a 'wet look'. I'm tempted with it though just to try.
Smells nice too!.
Smells like bubblegum
Doesnt taste like bubblegum though
Nah not much point claying unless it has picked alot of crap up since paint.
Would go for 2 polishes poorboys professional polish and einszett metallic polishwax, the professional polish is like a mild t-cut and will flat the paint further(nowhere near as harsh as t-cut dont worry)Wont need this that often i just save it really for use after claying and removing marks that appear scratches, bird muck marks etc, whilst the einszett will give a great glossy finish whilst further cleansing.(the einszett would be fine on your wheels)
Professional polish is about £10-£12 ish
Einszett metallic polishwax £9.99
Sealant wise you wont beat Blackfire wet diamond all finish paint protection trust me £21.95 bottle but worth every penny.
(dont look at buying a wax untill youve got 3-4 coats of this on your car ya may not need it)
Should ya need a wax i may just have found a new favourite in chemical guys 5050 limited edition paste wax.Seems to have all the qualities of collinite 915 but easier to use and has the edge on shine.
£25
(collinite915 dries quick and can be awkward to buff off)
Windows either fast glass or meguiars nxt(though not cheap for a glass cleaner)use with a proper window microfibre and theyre loads better.
Tyres i use 2 products depends which i can be arsed with if im honest, Meguiars endurance high gloss tyre gel (about 7 or £8)or(and value wise this stuffs a bargain £16.50/5ltr can)Valetpro high gloss tyre dressing, trust me you use very little for 4 tyres, just paintbrush on generally, though ya can give em a wipe over after if it suits ya.
Hope that helps mate.
if ya need links shout.

Blackfire on a mates series 1 incase folks wanted to see it on white.(will always need polishing first for best results with either einszett metallic polishwax or a polish youre currently using)

ollie if im honest mate i really dont rate the auto glym super resin
i now use the poorboys professional polish and einszett metallic polishwax folowed by the poorboys ex and some nattys wax
as for window cleaner the one i have is shite but dave has made a few surjestions which i think im going to try
im sure its not everyones cup of tea al, but it is a good product and has filling qualitys and its cheap and easy something i know Ted will appreciate lol
My only complaint with it is it becomes a little dusty but i find a ever so slightly damp MF towel sorts that out
i really dont rate the auto glym super resin
2nd'd
I have used enough over the years. It's very powdery when removing it.
Polish-wise I prefer Meguiar's professional stuff. I've found #80 or #83 to have the best balance of abrasion and shine. I was always a Tech Wax man but after using blackfire wet diamond all finish paint protection I doubt I'll go near it again. If I do use a wax it'll be Natty's blue paste as I always got decent results on my Nissan with that. I'll wait for my detailing kit to arrive and give some of that stuff a whirl.....I'll have the shiniest (and rustiest) Carlton in the land!
For glass you can't go wrong with AG Fast Glass. No mess, no fuss.
One thing that often gets overlooked but worth a try is the lights, use some Meg's Plas-X on the lenses and it makes a massive difference if the car's a few years old.
I love AG Fast Glass, I even use it in the house
I'll wait for my detailing kit to arrive and give vicky's cougar a whirl with it.....:
arr thanks babe
