Last week i got hold of some zymol paste wax to try. so out comes the cleaning products.
cant tell you anymore about it other than it looks like this, and smells loverly!

firstly i washed the car using AG shampoo and conditioner, and dried off with a microfibre towel.

with the paintwork been new i didnt see the need for polishing it so got straight onto the wax.

following the insructions on the label (never used a paste wax before) i applied it to my paintwork using an applicator pad in straight lines, and then buffed it off straight away using a meg's microfibre polishing cloth. then repeated to build up two layers of wax.

it was so simple to use and the shine/reflections it gave were better than any other product i have ever used.

at around 40quid a tub, let's face it, its expensive. but im happy with the results and will be buying some to use the day before shows!

some pics (although the camera/camera man is pants):

once i had finished the wax i polished the windows using AG glass polish and dressed the tyres using AG instant tyre dressing- both where the first time i have used them. the glass polish is abit dusty if left to dry for too long but i found that if its taken off sooner, less dust is created. and i honestly cannt fault the tyre dressing, its much better than the crap i used to use!
and a week later asfter i VERY quick wash and dry. the water beading on the paint was great, honestly i hadnt seen anything like it before EVER, i was struggling to keep the wings wet so i could wash them!

hope im up to the level of you detailing sad acts, i mean people Icon_cheesygrin
Looks awesome mate, very similar colour to my car so I may give that stuff a whirl.
The pics on the boot lid look spot on some amazing reflections there

Where did you aquire the Zymol from?

Looks really good!

What Polish/Sealant did you use underneath?

didnt polish it before i waxed it mate.

'borrowed' the wax off our lasses dad to try it out.

the pics arent great at all, i have always sucked with a camera, guna get coop to take some shots soon i think.

Just found out that the wax is called:

zymol carbon wax, and retails at £49. only got to borrow it because paul used to own a wide body 911 turbo that he used to detail all the time lol!

in a month or so, would anyone (ollie or smithy) let me test some of the autoglym hd wax on a panel or two so i can compare it?

then im going to decide if im guna buy some of the zymol or not.
looks the tits dude

Zymol seems to have done a good job there!

Yeh you can use the hd wax if you wish. I ain't got a lot left. I have been trying it out on mates cars, my windows, and my fridge lol. Fridge came up mint Icon_cheesygrin

Even new paint will benefit from polish/sealant/glaze/wax,know its a pain but the finish WOULD have been better still.

Anyone thinking the zymols good try collinite 915 at half the price then tell me if ya can justify paying twice as much for zymol, Icon_rolleyes for a better reflection(though not a wax)try Blackfire Wet diamond all finish protection (sealant)@£21.95.

Been there with swissol(now swissvax)/zymol even tried best of show at £120 a pot, to be honest preferred collinite 915.

The Blackfires worth a go on any colour car even on its own,Will be the best £22 you`ve ever spent, just go over it 3 or 4 times .............you`ll have to have the smile surgically removed off ya face Icon_cheesygrin
thanks for the info dave.
could you recommend some products for doing each step, now you have seen the colour of my car!
polish/sealant/wax etc?

never realy been bothered with it all to be honest but after seeing what results can be possible i want to start taking it more seriously.
Mate had some zymol left in his 993 turbo 4 by the previous owner............ya know what he ended up using-poorboys EX and P21s concours carnauba wax-most of the entry level waxes by swissol/zymol concentrate too much on protection/not enough on reflection/shine for my liking.
If i had to pick between the two though would be swissol/swissvax over zymol.

Just coz a wax is expensive it doesnt guarantee its going to be great, remember a £40-£50 wax to them is still their bottom of the range stuff.

Alot of the time its the protection not the finish youre paying for whereas if im paying alot i want to look at me car thinkin "thats mint"
yeah to be honest, id much rather have my car reflecting realy well than just know its protected for weeks/months.

it gets looked atfer well enough for me not to worry about protection to be fair.

go on then, what will make the reflection as good as possible, without spending loads money?
Polish-Einszett metallic polishwax £9.99

Sealant-Blackfire wet diamond all finish paint protection £21.95

Glaze- meguiars showcar glaze £9.99 or pinnacle XMT carnauba finishing glaze pinnacle glaze not long started using this though ive got a different wax on the scooby at the mo im trying that im not that pleased with.Do like meguiars glaze however this makes your car a bit more shiny whilst meguiars seems to just make it more grippy for the wax to bond to whilst keeping the sealant befores original shine-still in early stages of trying it though as ive ran out of my collinite to use over itIcon_cheesygrinDefinately easier to use than showcar glaze but im not in a position to do a direct comparison till i get some more collinite.

Wax -Either Chemical guys petes 53 £20 or collinite 915 around £20-£25,P21S concours carnauba wax leaves a great shine and is easy to use but protection wise only looking at about a month.

Still think if anyone dont wanna spend much money though the blackfire could almost make a showcar out of a shed-its the best product ive ever used and I almost cant justify the need for a wax over it.
These have had blackfire

This had had a full detail above full thread here
Scooby with blackfire
However dont be thinking a great finish aint achievable without a full detail its very special stuff.

Blackfire always leaves a really wet looking shine, they do do gloss enhancers and their own wax but the wet diamond all finish paint protection alone produced results like that on mine an lee`s cars-that were just 2 coats on lees series 1 the more ya put on the wetter looking it gets-im gutted im outta it at the mo-just wanted to try some other stuff.
Dave have you ever used/had experiance with Dodo Juice waxes?

Im tempted to try the Purple Haze and compare it to the AutoGlym HD (Which i have been promised will arrive tommorrow)

I know the Purple Haze is the Dark Car and Metallic Specific Wax (Good for my Car) its £30ish quid, read some good, and some ok reviews just wondered about your opinion if you had used any of there products?
