after removing my door plastics and being having a word with my racing advisor(u know who u r lol) he suggested some sort of thin chequer plating to go over the door and after some though i think it will look good, and quite possibly my rear quarter panels if the fronts r a success.
any suggestions and help please.
the mess behind my door:

Ask ste he did his rear panels took him quite a while. Think he got his plate from Ebay
carbon fibre is sexual but as i been thinking about it, i just like the idea of chequer plating.
If ya get the cf ones d no need for measuring and theyll fit straight away
true but is cf worth spending probably 8 times more than chequer especially if im only gona be using thin plate.
what purpose is the plate going to serve? is it for strength or vanity?
I've done my rear cards in chequerplate. Got the plate from ebay loadscheaper than places like B&Q

Looking at your photo you could either go right to the very edges of the door (probably easiest from a template and cutting POV) or go to the same shape as your cut out in the door.

I cut and shaped mine using a jigsaw and a grinder (cutting disc & grinding disc), Also a rubber mallet came in handy for persuading panels to fit ot the shape of the panel Icon_smile

I would recommend you get lots of cardboard in for templates. It does take a while.

the door just looks a mess as the previous owner smoothed the bump strip off the front of the door and the body shop he used went over the top with the filler, so ruined the door.

i was actually thinking of doing to whole door and just marking where the door handle would go and just add a strap to pull the door closed.
or you could just clean the door with water that would save loads of time and effort (im only reallly pointing this out because i have a bloody goood idea whos name will be on the job if he buys chequerplate Icon_sad)
