Right after looking into the weight of the car... it is clear the car has only lost 15kg with the interior removed and my new bucket seats added (they do weigh alot)
So im now looking into more power. Starting with the air intake.
I am now going to be purchasing a polished out intake manifold and throttle body.
We also have a rear bearing issue at the moment... think i need a new one but my dad is dealign with that for me.
As for getting the car rolling roaded i will do once i think it is ready at the minute i have a few issues to correct before i am happy for it to go on a rolling road.
Breathing is Key
You Need a good filter, De CAT good free flowing exhaust system
Its all about getting Gasses in and out
Other thing is keeping that air cool, so heat wrap and heat shields combined with air intakes will help with that.
Decat is next in line and a decent air filter will be on order once i get paid.
My friend has just put a nissan radiator on his 306 gti6 (same engine as mine) and he has found his car running 5 degres cooler. So that might be a future option for keep my engine cooler
Lets be real though i know you have taken some stick for claiming 200 bhp
If the standard figure is 167 you need to gain 20% Power
Now im no peugeot buff or tuning expert but a air filter and exhaust is not gonna give 30+ bhp increase
My 200 (to put it in perspective) as standard runs 197, with just a de-cat it managed 203, and forced induction is always gonna respond better to breathing,
what current mods do you have on it? what exhaust? have you checked about pannel filters as sometimes Hot engines work better with the standard air box with a replacement element filter instead of exposing one to engine bay heat.
My car is chipped and has fast road cams as well as a polished and ported head. I hope for 195bhp if im honest with how it stands.
With a decat, new filter and different manifold and throttle body i hope for over 200bhp.
I have been looking to air filters mine is very low down set behind my bumper at the moment. Good for cold air but it is getting full of crap. So something i need to look up abit more.
What do other rallyes make with similar mods?
a filter full of crap is worthless IMO get the standard airbox on with a panel filter.
is it still running a standard exhaust system too if so thats a huge restriction in your cars power output.
the ideas you have seem on the right track but IMo avoid Bhp (Thats Bullshit Horse power) im sure everyone estimates theres, also dont get bogged down with bhp figures as it dont mean a lot in the real world
At Trax sit back and watch me (With what i estimate as 260bhp) and matty with arround 130ish so i have double his but im gonna struggle like hell to keep up with him, its all about taking that power you have and using it correctly, getting it put on the road and making the engine work as efficient as poss and the power delivery to be smooth
Remember also what makes you go faster...its not all about ponies! Suspension and strut braces give you better handling and good tyres means you go faster through the corners better brakes means you can brake later therfor your faster on the straights
I am having a bmc enclosed filter - no more crap.
As for the bhp thing im not bothered about that everyone else is lol
I have a devil exhaust system cat back.
And thanks for the wise words Ollie
oh and as for what do other rallye makes with similar mods... i dont no of any with similar mods.
