I've been offered a VW Golf Driver which I think was a limited edition. Is there anything to be be particularly aware of on this model? I think it just needs new brake pads & some minor bodywork doing.
I'm no Dubber but I'd imagine as long as the scuttle isn't rotted out there's nothing overly frightening to watch out for, apart from the usual second hand car points; brakes, tyres, suspension etc. As long as it's solid just take her for a test spin if you can, make sure it's not pullin' to one side, got soggy suspension, spongy brakes etc.
There's plenty more on here more in to the VW thing than me though that might know of a few bad bits.
dude the drive was the most common golf they made i do belive there was two models being the 1.3 and the 1.6 but defo made more of them than any of the others
if you think its limited you sure its a driver? the gti's are bettter or even ralle's but drivers reallly are the base model and not worth a great deal
i hope its cheap
What mark is it
If its a MK2 driver, then just drive it see if it feels solid..
Check around window seals for water collecting and rusting/rotting shit away..
Also check the boot floor under the carpet..
If its a MK3 then check the bottom of the back window and around where the windscreen wiper sits for rust/rot..
Open the doors and check the sills on both marks.. this is a place that doesnt get cleaned by a lot of people and rusts.
What makes you say its LTD Edition?
also check the battery tray for rust !!
true story ash!
how much is this driver costing you?
Took a look at the Golf at the weekend & there's no way i'm paying £1500 quid for it

apparently it keeps cutting out all the time & needs quite a bit of bodywork doing on it. So i'm gonna wait until a nice GTi comes along
I was told it was a limited edition by the owner

that's the only reason I said it

& it was a MK3 by the way & rusting where you said it would

Nah.....what you want is a very rare Mk2 Golf Syncro. 4wd, easy to modify and a great road/track car.
Just so happens I have one to sell :-)
lol
a limited edition mk3? the only "rare" ish mk3's i know of are the vr6 highlines?
sounds like you made the right decision

1500quid jesus christ!
i paid 100quid for my red 5door 1989 driver, and the bodywork was near perfect. it sometimes cut out due to the shit carb. pieburg carbs were standard on these, and a replacement webber sorts the idling problems out.
sold it for 100quid when i found a oak green gti
mk3's are gay anyway, and over priced. al's right the only 'limited edition' mk3's are the Vr6 highlines, colour concepts, and gti 16v's with the ABF engine code.
