i would say handling wise the 106 rallye and not just bcos i own one but i havent heard a bad thing yet about there handling and quickness for an 8 vlaver is impressive
Mk2 Astra GTE is on my list (The 16v version)
Punto GT had potential but Fiat Made it...
Talbot Sunbeam and 1.9 205 GTI would prob come at the top of the list
popularity award has to go to the Saxo VTR...
And i have a soft spot of a MK2 XR2...
Ill deliberate and decide!
Punto gt`s a good shout, whilst 16v astras were quick they just didnt handle an the bk arches rotted like mad, nice interior and funky digital dash but let down by being so light on the bk-mate had an aubergine one an fuck me it were very floaty on the straight over 100mph.
My 3rd car i owned were a mk2 xr2 so im quite partial to em meself best ford ive owned for reliability.
Turbo`d - pulsar/sunny gti-r -Good all rounder for the time it were released.
Definately gets my vote!!
Clio V6
Bit biased here but i've always wanted one since i first seen it come out. I love it for its insanenous and character. I actually like the impracticality of the car aswell lol. Okay it may not be the safest, best handling car to throw about but the noise of the engine behind and people stopping to stare and take photos does it for me. Its a supercar for not supercar money i reckon
Hot hatches were cheaper end of market with good performance - at around 30k when new the Clio V6 doesn't really fit in the category in my eyes (although a stonking car none the less). If we talking that sort of money then surely the Escort Cossie is king?!
For me its got to be 205 GTI 1.9. Had a 1.6 but couldn't afford the 1.9 - it was still rapid and I was only 18 at the time....probably my fav car have owned (after the current one!). Would love a 1.9 even now....just can't justify the cost (and would probably barely use it!)
i would not say the 106/306 rallye, not very fast.
but i would deffo say the 205 gti as number one.
or the metro 6R4 for deffo if that counts?
Yeh you are prob right, in that case my vote also goes for the 205 gti, great fun!
Ford Escort RS1600i, Escort XR3/XR3i, Escort RST S1, Fiesta Mk1/2 XR2, Fiesta Mk3 RS Turbo
Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9, 106 Rallye
Volkswagen Golf Mk1 GTi/Campaign, Golf Mk2 GTi 8V, Golf G60 Limited, Polo G40
Renault 5 Maxi, 5 Raider, 5 GT Turbo, 9 Turbo, Clio Williams
Vauxhall Astra Mk1 GTE, Astra Mk2 GTE 16V
Citroen Visa GTi, Saxo VTR
Lancia Delta HF, Integrale
All contenders really. I loved the Mk1/2 XR2, 5 Raider, Golf Campaign, Delta Integrale and Visa GTi (which I have owned in the past.
If you are a purist - you would have to say it's the Golf Mk1 GTi, if your'e a modernist the Saxo VTR.
Personally I go with the Golf G60 Limited. No-one knows it, when you do you probably wouldn't know what it was and by then its left you for dead. Only 70 built, 210bhp standard, 4wd, motorsport designed, with 5 doors, understated looks and mega reliability. The ultimate Q-car (and from the factory too!)
i would not say the 106/306 rallye, not very fast.

Im pretty sure a 106 / 306 rallye could pace a 205GTI around a track, you would struggle to loose a 106 Rallye around somewhere like cadwell in your gti
I would go for the 306 GTI / Rallye they are underestimated by allot of people and when set up properly fly, maybe not the fastest 1/4 mile but they hammer it around a track when they have been set up properly they generally have a bit more stability.
I think a good hot hatch is summed up by the smile on your face
and most of the older french tins do that for me
Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi for me.
I cnt believe your all forgetting the king of NA hot hatches,
the EK9
and I will argue if anyone wants to go
get ready mods
your wrong meatball no vald reason your just wrong
your a berk ant, deffinetly a berk
MK1 Golf GTi!
No questions!
And MK3 golf RULE you bastards!
Ok not for speed, but i love the shape of them!
I'd have another one tomorrow!
EK9 Drools****
Holy Spunk!
