Got pulled up this morning for having illegal number plates, apparently the new cameras wont be able to read them. I work with high tech vision systems everyday and if the latest cameras cant read my plate then there shit. My main space is in the wrong place which will confuse the camera, I asked what if I had a newer car with two letters, two numbers then three letters?? They said in doesnt matter as long as there correctly spaced. Well the spaces in between my letters are standard as is the font so I dont see a problem. What if I had three letters and four numbers?? I know the laws the law, but still think its stupid. Heres my plate:
Im not critisising the police that pulled me over, just the law. Although I dont think the officers arguement as to why its illegal was valid. I really dont think the cameras would have any difficulty in reading my plates.
I would love them to pull me in the bmw...
the d on our numberplate looks like a b but saying that coppers have seen it plenty of times and turned there head..
to b fair thats the the most smallest and stupidest thing, that copper must of been really bored this morning.
u should of said to him i dont plan on speeding throught a camera so iy wont really matter lol.
Well they also missed the fact that one of the number plate lights doesnt work and also the fact that the plate says Impreza Turbo along the bottom and not the name of the garage which made the plates, which I think is not legal either. They followed me for over a mile before pulling me too. He wasnt an arse about it and I didnt get a fine, but was still annoying as the plate is perfectly legible.
it does suck mate but like you said the law is the law. and place that supplies the plates now for "road use" must have the british standard number on, which is saying the reflective background is up to standard and the name and postcode of the supplier if the plate is made from i think its september 2003 onwards (you just simply say they been on before that), show plates do not have to have any. to be honest the plate would fail an MOT on spacing (not to say that the guy testing would or would not fail it if you know what i mean)
wel i saw u his afternoon going past vauxhall garage and they looked ok to me. i did wave at u by the way but was in my sisters car.
Didn't see you D, the plates have been on for over a year and not had a problem before. I knew they were MOT failures, but I always take my old plates with me. Quite what they have to do with the car being road worthy though I'm not sure. I've looked into this and there is a big operation that went out this week to crack down on number plates. Give it a month and it will blow over, there just pulling everyone with illegal plates at the mo instead of looking the other way. There just following orders.
I think its stupid too!
Ok, so DODGY fonts, and letters and numbers made to look like other things.. FINE..
Pull them people and slap them round the face..
But an incorrectly spaced plate is NOT hard to read!
I have B19 OLL, and i have TWO spaces in between the two sections to make them stand out more as two words..
Its BARELY noticable..
Yet i actually got pulled once and they brought it up..
How the fuck he noticed, i dont know!
