With the local scumbags running riot - stealing and torching cars - I want to fit a decent car alarm. The current one is OK, but a bit of an unknown.

I don't need anything that plays numerous sirens, starts the engine or activates neons - just one with 2 remotes, activates central locking, flashes the lights, immobilises and has a visible flashy light warning. With old school cars most of the techno features seem a bit pointless. I just want something that makes a noise and stops the little b%^#@~ds taking it.

Has anyone had experience of the Hornet/Python range from Directed Electronics? I read that they are made by the same people that do Clifford and lots of the options seem compatible.

Price is a lot lower - I just wondered if there were any major downsides.
you get what you pay for with alarms.

Autoarm @ sutton fitted me a toad Ai606 Cat1 alarm & immobiliser for £255
here we go again lol. this always causes arguements.

i wouldn't touch toad with a barge pole personally, but i know loads of people love them.

always go clifford i say.
my advice would be to ring source & tell them exactly what you've said in your first post.
Had a Toad a few years ago and it self-triggered all the time (so it got binned!)

I'll take your advice Newth. Always fancied Clifford so it seems a logical step.
I had a toad, it was fine.. Icon_smile

I guess each consumer prefers different things Icon_smile

top alarm and the old guy at autoarm knows his stuff

Toad definately, mates an alarm fitter an swears by em,i know too many ppl who`s had trouble with cliffords....good if not great alarms bk in the day but not as good as they were yrs ago (imo)
i had a toad alarm once too.
when someone broke into my car, it didn't page me like it was supposed to. i was about 20 yards away from the car at the time, in the pub. on the plus side though, i got to shout at the installers & i didn't get done for murdering a car thief, so i guess there's a bright side.
ive had both and without a dout i will have both again but if im 100% honest i would choose the clifford over the toad but dont ask me why because im not reallly sure Icon_biggrinearme:
