Thought I'd actually start a propper thread about the future of the Merc.

The original plan with the car was to sell it straight on. It was only supposed to be a stepping stone back to another FORD, yes, my prefered badge is still a blue oval so dont worry, lol. The plan was simply a moddest ST200. But unfortunately I actually like the Merc, a lot. I dont recon I would have like the Mondy as much, maybe one day I'll find out, but not just yet.

Anyway, the merc, the decided plans.

Engine / Performance

Exhaust from exhaustuk, just a sports backbox, Lee advised not to venture any further forward, and I'll take his advise. Not 100% sure what, but either one 3 x 4 oval or two smaller ovals on the left side. Price doubles for duplicated on opposite side aswell.

Some form of induction kit, probably a universal one.

Thats about it unless I get some shiney bits for the engine bay.

Bodywork / kit

For now, nothing much. The only thing thats definately happening is the grill is being painted body coloured for the VIP look. Its already got the smoothed bonnet badge. I dont keep cars long enought to spend the money need on the kit I want.

Wheels / suspension

For now the centre of the wheels are also being painted body coloured until I have enough money for a new set of 19s middle of next year.

I'd like to lower the rear just under an inch, I think it would sit sweet that bit lower, but if not possible, then its fine.

Interior

I just want a new stereo, it will be something cheap, with DVD and flip out TV screen. No big subs, and amps.

Conclusion

Basically keep it as clean as poss and drive it VIP stylee!

errr! No fancy suspension for me. I'd like just a little bit lower but its quite low as it is, compaired to other E-Class's out there.

I've have now had a mail back and they cant / dont do that bonnet anymore. Not a bad thing really, I recon it'd be way too expensive. lol That particullar bonnet I posted is for sale for $300 on Merc Benz World forum but he says local pickup only. Is anyone nipping to the state in the next couple of days. lol.

With the exchange rate the way it is at the minute mate, paying for the shipping may not be as extortianate as you'd think.....

Dont tell me things like that. lol.

I dont know how safe it would be to buy something like that bonnet as a "private sale" and then trust him not to do a runner with my money. I'd also need to arrange my own courier to pick it up, then ship it, pay import tax. It just sounds like hard work for it not to fit right when I get it.

Thats why I emailed the manufacturer for a price for a new one. I kow I'd have paid a bit more but would have had more protection from fraud / scam.

How cool would a CF bonnet be though.

It would be pretty cool yeah, although....if it was just the effect you were after then a vinyl wrap on the bonnet would be convincing. I've seen it done on a few race cars over the last couple of years and you can't tell the difference by looking.

Bonnet is too much effort and money to get from US so kicked that idea in the head. Would have been cool though.

New head unit purchased yesterday with money from Santa (Clare).



4.2" TV screen, DVD, MP3, Bluetooth for handsfree phoning, Its got all the goochy bit without the goochy price. eBay bargain at just under £100 delivered....EBAY LINK > 686 4.2" TV / DVD....Absolute bargain if anyone is after a cheap stereo, especially if the bluetooth handsfree bit works. They have them for sale almost every day, No more sneaky phone calls with the phone on your knee risking 3 points or worse.

is it single din size?

Single DIN, but I'm not sure if the bit you see is taller. Some others I were looking at were single DIN but the bit that you see was obviously larger to accomodate a larger TV screen, but if this one is any bigger then its not so obvious so not sure. Anywho, it should be here in a couple of days, hopefully tomorrow, so I'll let you know.

I've been busy surfing eBay.

New badge to replace the cheap looking one on the boot.


I've seen these and think they're cool, but cos I'm tight and didnt want to pay £12 I've got ma pencil and ma craft knife out and made a set out of some vinyl I had. I'll fit them in a bitch and take a pic. They've actually come out quite good if I do say so myself.
