Been lookin for a new car for about 2 months now to replace the saxo since its been giving me so much trouble .. but as yet with the hours i work and everything ive had no luck ...
With me being 18 and still on my first yrs insurance there isnt much out there for me to look at but ive had a few choices ...
these are -
1998 - 2001 Vauxhall astra sport 1.8
1998 - 2000 Peugeot 306 1.9TD
1998 - 2002 Peugeot 306 1.8XS
1999 - 2001 Ford Focus
Just wanted some help from the MAXXD community on narrowing down these 4 ...
Any other possible options would be helpful ...
neither! go down the JAP route

maybe a swift, dpends on how much your looking to spend ??
Around 2k to be safe ... 3k at a push ... thats with selling my car as well
Hmmm..
if your on a budget, then the best way to choose a car is to look on the MaxxDirectory and on eBay and see how much aftermarket parts go for..
Theres no point spending 3k on a focus (for example) if you have to drive round with it standard for a year!!
it would be much better to buy a 306, and do a few mods like wheels and lowering straight away.
Hope this helps

Ye it does olstar thank you ... thats what i was thinkin about .. ive actually read up about the 3061.9TD ... and found that there easily tunable to 120-150 BHP .. more with a FMIC ... if i keep one of them for a yr till i finish col / start new job itll be fine ...
306 DT's have good economical engines in them and have lots of modding potential.
And i bet you can get almost brand new alloys on eBay for £150...
And they are like tanks too..
The maxxd.com slag was a turbo diesel 306, and it was passed around about 10 members on here...
It was indestructable...
Well, until maddsys missus drove it

lol .. sounds fun .. means lots of help of modding

.. the search for a 306 DT begins ..
Best not let maddys missus drive my car then if i meet her

cary:
having said that its still knocking about!
Yes mate get looking for one, if you look in our gallerys you will see some pics of the 306 its black, had BK299s on at some point, and a kit and then dents and scrapes (Mchugh!)
Make sure you keep us updated with progress, you never no you might wanna show it next year and have it on the stands!
306 HDi's are nice, a little quieter as well and easier as they have a ecu that can be re mapped
