just brought an octavia vrs and im after a dump valve now i've been told that its not recommended i fit a standard twin piston type but to fit a re circulating one in the original place are there any vw/audi owners on here that cud shed some light on it, (im after the noise more than anything lol) its the 1.8 20v turbo 180bhp engine cheers Icon_biggrin
its all about compresser surge mate

Bin off the dump valve or have a re-circ, put a filter on and listen to the chatter

Best noise in the world far better than a chavvy dump!
will try that see wot it sounds like was lookin to fit ind kit aswell but new to these engines and not sure what the best for them cheers
im with ollie, i sold my dump valve ages ago and refitted the standard re-circ one
Dump valves are seriously ghey. If you're fitting a re-circ then you'll not really hear much anyway so you may as well just stick with the standard setup.
I've never been a re-circ fan at all. They just reticulate warm air (yes it's warm even tho it's pasted through the IC).
stickin with a re circ valve but a forge motorsport version which is both in one the noise of a blow of valve but still a re circ version i think (better write my letter to santa lol) Icon_biggrin
recirc pumps the air back into the system, therfor not venting boost out therfore no noise. post a link up of the noisy recirc????
You may be able to hear the re-circ if you bin the standard induction box and put an induction kit on, but the Forge will be no different to the standard one.
To be honest ive hardly ever noticed any noise on a scooby with a recirc its swings an roundabouts for what the individual wants really though ya best option is a recirc-with a vta dumpvalve fuel air metering is all fooked up as the airflowmeters calculating fuel based on the standard setup which is for the air to be put bk into the system after the airflowmeter (as already measured) and with a vent to atmosphere its not so temporarily the cars overfuelling which can cause borewash-(not good)

compressor surge or chatters not good for ya turbo though sounds cool as fcuk so removing dumpvalve alltogether and blocking pipes off to create it although sounds good aint that practical for ya motor either the noise comes from the compressor rotor stalling momentarily once the butterfly`s shut on ya throttlebody (when coming off accelerator)whilst turbos still building pressure-its got nowhere to go so tries to force bk through turbo hence the noise.the excess pressure is vented to atmosphere(noisy dumpvalve) or bk through intake system via a recirc(quiet/silent ones)

All this said i love dumpvalves lol louder the better pmsl.
dump valve ordered shud be here morra its the forge re circ bov one as in thread above just deciding on which filter fmic an exhaust to put on :boogy:
dump valve arrived and fitted this morning sounds nice not to loud Icon_smile
