Sorry, here goes...

I've noticed a few posts containing info on stolen cars to look out for, unfortunately i haven't spotted any but i have a short story that might make sense!

About 2 weeks ago a friend aged 19 bought a 04 or 54 reg Civic Type R, which the insuance asked him to install a tracker for them to insure him. From what i heard it was a minter with 19k on the clock.

Today he went to mansfield on Ratcliffe Gate near the Chad offices at around 9am, parked up, locked and alarmed, checked, walked off. When he came out the car had been stolen, on the other side of the road is mansfield police station. After a breathalyser? and a few questions they looked at the tracker report.

It took the thieving scum 45 minutes to break in, get it going and reach Doncaster That was the last update i got as he was in a police car at the time so dont know if its been recovered before its been took to pieces.

It seems as technology develops, so does the criminal. I also think modern way of thinking doesn't help with alarms, before everyone used to look when they went off but now they just want them turning off ASAP as to not disturb watching jeremy kyle.

The point of this post is to keep people on their toes as this has pissed me off never mind my friend and i wouldn't like to hear more stories of cars being stolen. He was going to drive down with me aswell on sunday
wankers
This is why you dont get a alarm immobiliser or tracker installed by a mobile auto electriican that takes an hour to do. You get one fitted by a decent autoelectricican that can easily take a full day to fit it. When fitted properly it is very hard for a thief to remove the device and throw onto the neared moving lorry.

If you need one fitting then a good tracker is Smartrack. You can find us on the Maxxd directory at

Immobiliser on a CTR is nigh on impossible to get round (or at least it used to be) as its plumbed straight into the ECU. As a result most CTR's were being snatched by burglary to steal the keys then take the car. I suspect the Type r in question was probably put on back of a low loader and transported to Doncaster that way.

Either way disturbing news and i think i may use my disklok a bot more often from now on Icon_sad
I always park my car with the wheels at a angle (and theres no toe eye on the front)
i think i will as well whenever i come to mansfield lol
sazzle don't think it will work to well as you need a snap off stearing wheel as well (I carry mine with me when i leave the car)
i meant use a steering lock lol! in all fairness they'd be doing me a favour taking it hehe... mind it would mean i'd need to claim on insurance so we'll scrap that idea
oh dear!

pls keep us updated with news dude..

thats bad shit!
Should hopefully be getting pictures soon as its been recovered. Its back in mansfield, its been caught on the Chad CCTV to which the thief was young, how young i dont know. Whilst driving in doncaster the driver lost control, hit a tree then fell into a ditch leaving blood all over the dash. The owner has been sent pictures of the scene via e-mail off the police, showing all the skid marks on the road leading to it hitting the tree and the ditch.

As i said in the original post this is really just to warn, my next mod is a disclock even though mine just stays on my drive most of the time

It just shows the criminal is getting more advanced to break into a modern car, dis-arm the alarm and immobiliser and get it going at a young age. Probably wouldnt have been so easy if someone payed attention to the alarm going off in the 1st place and realising how they turned it off!
best of all is a reply on the other site, this shows how good our police are......

I broke a car theft gang operating in the hagley area of stourbridge, reported it to the police as I had IDs on every single member of the group, cctv footage giving clear images of their faces and I even spotted them in 3 stolen cars.

Police told me "oh yeah, they've been at it for ages, we don't have enough evidence to stop them though"

so i have photo evidence and it's not enough? but apprently a pic of me going at 53mph in a 50mph zone is enough to give me 3points,£60 fine plus £100-£200 extra a year on my insurance?

Key can be cut without original using key cutting device with electronic sensors on (only available to members of locksmith association). Ecu can have new data flashed (using OBD) so that the ecu thinks it is a brand new virgin ecu it will then learn new key data so any crypto chipped key will start it up.

Anyone geared up and clued up to specificaly take that car could take it in around 5 to 10 mins

Best bet is get thatcham 1 device thatcham 4 device and tracker
