I've just bought a OBD2 fault code reader and if anyone wants any fault codes reading and deleting then let me know and I can do it for you.
It doesn't read all codes but it's ok with most of the generic ones.
Only had 1 on mine which was U1600 - ignition key not reconised, I've deleted it and it shouldn't affect the car anyway.
handy piece of kit, better than paying dealers £40 to read them.
It works on most cars 2001 or newer.
Dan the Man...
If your doing it for free, can you just confirm what i already know at ED on wednesday... read my code. Tell me so i am again re-assured its the Lambda sensor...
Clear it, give me 30 mins and il have it back on....
- Think ive got a break in the wire somewhere as i had to extend the sensor 1meter
Yea I'll have a go at clearing it for you for free
PM sent
It works on most cars 2001 or newer.

OBD3 is the new protocol for obd
works on an 04 reg FIAT and 53 reg Ford

which diag is it then because fiat use there own protocol and ford uses IDS now

An OBDII tester will still read a Merc.
An OBDII tester will still read a Merc.
what about 32 pin?
according to that it cant do vag vehicles either???
if it does fiat can it determine which ecu is in the vehicle??? Ive used these cheap scanners before and there not what they are cracked up to be Sykes Pickavant are similar and really get on your tits cos 1 vehicle may have a number of variants of ecu giving slightly different codes. Some cars may have a choice of say magnetti marelli or bosche and there P codes can be completely different and missleading
what about 32 pin?
On a Merc 32 pin is ODB II. 16 pin is ODB III, however Star Diagnosis is a OBD II derived reader yet will communicate with either via a simple lead swap.
so if merc 16pin is OBDIII will this OBDII scanner from ebay work?
I only wanted it for my Stilo for when I get engine managment come on, it can't find out which ECU or VIN number just generic codes and some manufacturer specific codes.
the P1600 code I had was not in the manual, so I spoke to a FIAT tech who told me it was the ignition key not reconised
