Here's the plan.

1970 spec German LHD import 1600cc

Its in for a body off resto at the moment (will post pics soon). Its had everything from the A pillar back replaced with new panels.

Hoping it's painted by the time we return from Germany so I can get cracking with the refit.

Having it done in a girly, but retro pink colour from - get it- a 1974 Porsche 911RSR Turbo. Actual colour name is Carmine Red but as you can see from the Porker - it's very very pink

Plan is to get it back in one piece with the new bits on, then start modifying it with Porsche rims, lowered ride and a few tricky bits.

get some pics up as soon as you get it back Icon_biggrin

I'm interested. Got 2 so another wouldn't harm anyone :teeth:

I look forward to seeing that mate..

It'll definately be a head turner Icon_smile
OK, been down my unit today and had a look at the Porker rims I was going to fit on the truck.

They're a 5 spoke 18"x8J design from the Cayenne Turbo.

I'm researching whether they will go on Kates bug or not (might need special struts and/or Porsche rear arms etc but it would be worth it) without ruining the ride quality - after all it will be her daily.

Knocked up a quick Bug-Selecta/Photoshop image (wheels to scale) to see how it might look.

Opinions please.....

Just been down to check on progress....

Its now in a coat of reference primer, having just been balsted with zinc primer throughout. Minor filling and stopper is going on along with some high tech sealant treatment inside the floor/boot areas.

All in all it's looking very good and I can't wait to see it all one colour again (not that rust/pale yellow is a colour).

Pictures of the extensive restoration work are now available to see here:

Car (virtually complete with shagged interior and rot) -£800
Doors - £500
Panels - £420
Interior - £350
Trim - ££££££££££
Body and paint - £1500-1700 (expected)

There's more to go but I reckon it will be worth it for what is a virtually new car.
