RE: *Member* Clare's Big Ford Escort Cabriolet
Some of you might have noticed BigCab© was a little smoky on the way back from Donny. Clare driving it like she stole it, then forgeting she had two more gears was not nice to the little old thing and it shat itself and started smokin like a good un. Its a dirty old RS Turbo, they're supposed to smoke a bit but this was a lot. lol.
It has got a little smoking problem when cold in the morning but gone in 2 mins, thats the stem seals so just though with Clare driving it a little harder than normal she'd destroyed one of them for good. We are going to get those changed before Nationals.
But following her last night in Troys car to MFN the smoke was not coming from the exhausts. It was coming from under the car, and filling the car up inside too.
It turned out that she'd burst the oil return pipe from the Turbo, again. It wasnt enought to empty the oil in one go but when it was on boost it must have increased the oil preasure and spat a bit out all over the very hot exhaust causing the James Bond Style smoke screen. Let it off boost, less preasue and no smoke.
Going to see how much PJ Motorsport charge for a silicon one rather than a normal rubber one. This is not the first time this has burst on it. Ask Nez the story about what happened last time.

I'm going to see what a Samco one cost. A second hand rubber one is £10. So i recon a samco will be aboout £20 - £30 maybe if we're lucky.

to be fair dude i thought on the way to doony it was coming from the exhaust so you sure it isnt the stem seals or re you saying its a mixture of both? downer on the pipe but on the other hand your doing the right thing and going for samco so all problems should be solved

lol lol lol what an epic that day was lol, in a nutshell due to the oil pissing out of the return pipe it took 25 yes 25 litres of oil to get back from bridlington and a fooking lot of smoke lol. priced one up at work and there 45 bloody pound for a genuine one

yeah, and to top it off, Bridlington sucked massive monkey balls!
Didn't the cab use more oil than fuel for the trip?

Defo more oil used that day. This time, its not quite gone so dramatically so not quite as much oil loss.
New pipe aquired last night off Ryan with the red Mk3, he just happened to have one in his car. How lucky was that? It must be a Ford thing.....carrying spares about. lol. Still going to see how much for sylicon one. But no big rush now.
EVERYTHING underneath has now got a thin...sorry.....thick coat of dirty dirty oil, lovely, so it looks like I'm guna be getting dirty dirty tonight but one good thing has come from this....
I dont think the underside of the car will be rusting any time soon. ##waits for all the haters to make a comment##

We need to do something under the bonnet. Not sure what though.
It would be nice to chuck a couple hunder pound and have all the Chrome tanks and covers etc but but thats cant happen at the minute.
Its got red samcos and odd bits of orange paint at the minute with a Red Block, but I though about going that bit further and painting even more Orange and some bits Red. I've tried to look at the below photo but cant seem to picture what it would be like.
We need to do something though.

...
I really want to write "You cant polish a turd " but after the last few days i suppose i better not as im pretty sure clare will actually kill me!
So...
Just a random idea, i remember seeing a lot of the european cars (Mainly due to there shit tuning laws and having to have shitty diesel engines) particually last year/year before cover there engines with fibreglass pannels (as your handy with the fibreglass al it shouldnt be a problem) so it makes the bay look a lot tidier, by hiding all the wiring and batterys under these panels and then painting them either body colour or contrasting
I really need to find a pic as an example but do you understand what i mean?
***Let me go look for a pic***
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.
***Nissan 200SX S14a 203.2bhp 194.6lbft - 13.89@100.60***

engine cover is a great idea. the best ones drop down & allow certain parts of the engine to poke through.
others have windows in to allow certain items to be seen.
these things were massive in italy last year.
also, it's a shed load of work for that car, but running the wiring through the inner wings would look good. always tidys up an engine bay.
